'09 TN DL Daniel Hood (merged)

Sounds like he is a done deal and not going to be a Vol. Unless someone else has more info.

Why do you say that? If he decides to walk on, it will probably not be a huge story in the media anyways. I think it is very possible he walks on at UT. John Brice from Volquest is usually on the sports monster on Wednesday mornings. If he is on in the morning I will see if the guys that host the show will get an update on Hood and see what's going on.

It honestly doesn't sound like we know anything yet.

This is going to be a polarizing issue, as evidenced by this amount of posts for a player that isn't named Bryce Brown.

It would be big news on this board! That's what I meant. :)

Here's the thing about Daniel. He wants to go out west (preferably UCLA), but he knows that it isn't feasible. He has seriously been considering Mississippi and Auburn, but chances are he will end up at Tennessee. That's all according to his older sister.

It is sad to think this young man has to walk on to earn a scholarship. I believe his 3.8 GPA and high ACT score along with his improved behavior over the last several years ought to be enough to justify a break. We have all made mistakes in life. Give him a chance with a short rope.

He can get an academic scholarship in the mean time. I see nothing wrong with that, and I don't see anything wrong with making a kid with a questionable background "earn" his athletic scholarship after a year as a walk on.

This kid deserves a scholarship. But I do not think that we have the numbers this year.

Where were all of these holy rollers when King Fulmer gave a scholarship to Respert after he admitted what he did on his visit to Florida? And he was an 18 year old at the time. These hypocrites do not care when you are winning.

With his GPA he should be able to get the hope scholarship and maybe some other grants and walk on. If he stays clean for a year and is deserving of it then I think he should be offered a full ride athletic scholly.

Is this kid really that good?? Supposedly has alot of big name offers yet hasn't signed a LOI. I'm trying to not pass judgment on him. Just really wondering if its worth having him on the team.

He hasnt signed because no one will sign him. If you dont know the back story on why this is just search on here and you'll find it

I started off not wanting this guy to have anything to do with the UT program. But the more I've thought about it, the more I like the sound of him walking on and EARNING his scholarship. I mean, at the first sign of problems cut the kid loose. If he acts like man and gives 100%, then reward him with the scholarship...
