'09 TN DL Daniel Hood (merged)

from what is being said, if the new prez signs off on it, CLK and MH will welcome him with open arms.

Rex have you heard anything about Hood signing with Ole Miss? I heard a guy on the sports monster here yesterday call in and say he signed with them. It doesn't show on rivals so I am assuming he was reporting false info.

I cant find that info anywhere, you have to believe its bunk because it would be somewhere.

Has anyone heard an more news about Daniel signing with UT. This would be a massive blocker for BB and David Oku in the future. This kid is a hoss.

People make lots of negative comments out of ignorance. Tnrunner makes an excellent point about Hood getting a full ride, but here (apparently) as with many situations, being an elite athlete changes things. It may not be right or fair, but it is what it is. He did a terrible thing, but if the victim really is willing to forgive, I think that says a lot personally. People change a lot from 13-17/18. Young guys are very easily influenced by older guys they look up to. Again, I am in no way saying what he was involved with is "ok", I just think some of you guys need to think about what if you had a son involved with something like this at 13. If he (hypothetical son) had done all the right things since the incident, would you think someone should give him a chance?

Maybe ESPN is just working through the Bryce Brown and Al Davis stuff and have this planned for tomorrow's features about Kiffin.

You would think that if it was going to happen that it would have happened by now

Regardless of where Hood goes, he only has about 9 days to sign if he is going to be playing college ball in 09.

That isn't the case. If he doesn't sign by April 1, he is wide open to enroll and play anywhere that will accept him in the fall, assuming he is eligible for entrance.

A recruit does not have to sign a letter of intent. All the LOI does, is stops other schools from recruiting a kid. As long as a kid never signs an LOI, he cna be recruited by all schools until he enrolls somewhere.

If he doesn't sign a LOI, he isn't guaranteed any scholarship money.

So he can go wherever he wants, and could possibly still get a scholarship. It just isn't promised to him.

He is also an in-state kid that could get the HOPE scholarship for the first semester and then the next could go on scholarship if UT chooses to do so if we have the numbers.

John Brice from volquest was on the Sports Monster this morning and he gave an update on Hood. He said he would not elaborate too much about Hood's situation, of course we all know why, but he said UT is very much in the picture with Hood. He said UT is talking to him about walking on and proving himself scholarship worthy.

One of the guys asked why would Hood walk on when he could go to other schools on scholarship. Brice said that Hood really wants to go to UT more than any other school. He didn't come out and say it, but I got the impression this is very likely to happen. JMO, but if the kid is willing to walk on and prove himself just because he wants to play at UT, when he could go to other schools on a scholly, then he is worth taking a chance on. What he was involved in was really bad. He was very young at the time and has seemed to keep himself out of trouble since. He has a 3.8 GPA with a 27 ACT score. Sounds like just maybe, he might have turned things around.

I haven't commited on this because I don't like to judge other people and as young as he was @ the time of this incident is a big factor on why I would be willing to give this kid a chance to follow his dream and become a vol!If he does get a chance he better take full advantage of it because I'm almost sure that he will not get a 3rd chance!
