'09 TN DL Daniel Hood (merged)

Quote:
UT has been given the OK to sign Hood and that's going to become official shortly.

From Kevin Scott on VQ...

Does this mean he will receive a scholarship? I thought they were talking about letting him walk on an prove himself. Do you know which it is?

what is your opinion LV

I like it. I think he deserves another shot and he will fit UTs scheme very nicely. Quick, athletic OL is what we need...

I'm not sure tbh. But I haven't heard anything lately about him "earning his way." The way I take it, he may just recieve the scholarship on a very short leash...

When I first read about what he did, I was totally against UT even talking to this kid. But, that was several years ago and he has apparently stayed out of trouble ever since. He has done very well academically and seems to have his head on straight. Another chance might be all the kid needs. I am okay with it at this point as well.

He is a very good OL prospect. Rivals has him at a 5.7 RR, which is .1 away from being a 4*. He has offers from a bunch of good programs, but he choose to stay and wait on UT. Thats my kind of kid (except for the rape thing). As on terms of comparison, he reminds me alot of Kevin Revis on film. Small in weight, but is big and can move. I love the move. Maybe he can be a big turn around story in college football?

I think the guy is over joyed that he's going to get a chance at playing. He probably would like nothing other than to show how he can come back after a horrible mistake, and be a good student athlete, keep his nose clean, show he is no longer that stupid kid he once was. I bet a day dosen't go by that he dosen't greave over his mistake. I say there are alot more people willing to give second chances than willing to condem. He's got a lot to prove and i bet he will succeed.

thats why you post and our coaches make the final say.some people deserve a second chance.lets all hope this kid has really matured.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone

Judge not lest ye be judged.

You will raise a fallen man higher with your caring and compassion than to kick the snot out of him when he is trying to get back up. Maybe we should all get behind this manchild and encourage him to future greatness. IMO

13 year old kid....some people need to forgive man...will help you live a better life

I would be happierr if he walked on his first year

Catholic HS offensive lineman Daniel Hood received a letter of confirmation this morning from the University of Tennessee informing him that he had been granted admission into the school.

Hood has not yet, but is expected to sign scholarship papers with Tennessee as early as this afternoon or evening.

We will have much more with Daniel and this story later tonight.

Just posted on VQ by Rob Lewis... Hood is officially a Vol. I can't wait to hear from him tonight...

I can't say I have done worse, but a sin is a sin in the book. None are bigger than others

The law of man disagrees with you.

This is a lot more serious than grabbing a Hershey's kiss with chubby little fingers and getting caught by mom or dad because you have chocolate on your mouth.

As someone else said, if he wants to come and has been admitted under normal admissions procedures... fine...but let him pay for the first (at least) year and earn a scholly.

I'm definitely disappointed if the news is true.

I am all for giving him a second chance. I like his tape too. Brandon who is that in your avatar?

I've read that opinion from a couple of people. Explain that line of thinking to me. As far as the moral question goes, why does it matter if he's on scholarship or not? Either way he's on the team.
