'09 TN DL Daniel Hood (merged)

Agree. I liked it much better than the Adams article.

It has better perspective and more facts. It's well-written.

That is one of the better reads of the year so far. I really enjoyed it. Makes me really root for the kid to succeed here.

to montereyvol.....seems like he was talkin to you.

He is saying all the right things and I commend him for it. However I have sent more young men and women off to their punishment even when they seem repentant.

It's not about being prejudiced to the individual or situation its about making the right call and he did not make it. I believe the choice to let him attend UT is okay, he has done what he needs to do to earn that. I do not however think he has earned the right to play football at UT for the simple reason that he will be in the news and the victim needs to be taken into consideration at this point.

Montereyvol, I wanted to get your opinion on the article and if it changed how you felt? I want a reaction from someone who didnt like the move.

It highlights his side of the story, which is a good thing for him. But I don't agree with the decision to play ball.

So you think that a good young man shouldn't be given the chance to bust his ass for your favorite team because you're scared the media might say something about it?

....cool man

he fits in with the staff on campus..because he has that same type of attitude....I think this staff will get the best out of him.....as a player he has great size...very good feet and he is another Catholic kid that plays nasty.....I think he will have an adjustment peroid as he gets use to going against guys his size everyday........he contributes IMO as a redshirt frosh some.and plays alot as a soph...on through..IMO as I dont think he will play next season....getting acclimated to college life...his story being in the media......maybe too much to overcome as a frosh...it will be too much pressure......

This is blur's take on Hood as a PLAYER....

Sorry, close-minded people just aggravate me.

There are two sides to this story, and we do not know the other. Let me ask this. if this kid sucked at football would you be defending him? Would it surprise you know I would hire this kid? I don't think his life should stop but certain avenues should be closed.

But the main avenues most important to rehabilitation are those that positively fit with an individual's capacity to become a constructive citizen.

Why start by ruling those out if the objective is rehabilitation?

Kid is coming to UT, support it or not. He's obviously has the support of the girl that was raped back when he was 13, so that should tell some of the story right there.

I cannot believe that you actually think that a young man should be denied certain opportunities because of an idiotic mistake he made when he was in the 7th grade.

Do you remember when you were a stupid 13 year old kid? Ya know, when you thought about boobs all day and laughed everytime you heard anything that sounded like a fart?

Do you think that a decision you made then, should forbid you from using your God-given talents to earn yourself an education?

I believe in the best interests of all parties that Hood, if his main desire is to play football should do it elsewhere for the benefit of the victim, the victim's family and for his own sake.

You know nothing about this situation. All you know is what you read on the internet, and you think that enables you to say what is good for Hood, the victim, and her family. You're clueless.

I guess the same can be said for you.

Lets not crucify a kid for something he did when he was 13. I don't think anybody on here knows exactly what happened. He hasn't been into any trouble since then..to the best of my knowledge?? As long as he stays out of trouble, I am glad he's a VOL

Hood believes that would be cowardly and walking away from the crime as though it never happened.

Apparently, his victim supports that decision.

No it can't. I'm not judging anybody. I don't know any of them. I'm not gonna act like I know what's "in the best interest of all parties".

What I do know is that I don't believe a man's life shouldn't be forever affected by an unintelligent mistake that he made when he was thirteen years of age.

Yeah, I read that and its admirable I don't fault this line of thinking but more mature heads need to prevail, I really doubt this isn't going to effect the victim.
