'09 TN DL Daniel Hood (merged)

I'm not the same person I was 5 years ago and I have no problem assuming the same for DH. I'd just say welcome to UT and good luck.

If you drive a the car in a bank robbery but never went in and pointed a gun, you are still as liable for facilitating the crime. This is what he did!! Morally, he did much more because he did not come to the aid of another. He could have stopped this from happening but he did nothing. All he would have done is said no! and got his father who was in the house.

Peer pressure and wanting to be accepted by older kids at that age will cause you to do and witness things that you may think are wrong but won't say anything because you don't want to be alienated by them. What he didn't know at his age is the fact that he as going to lose that friend because of that whole premise. Kids don't think that far ahead at that age, I know I didn't.

It's hard for me to accept that UT would actually welcome someone like this into its family, especially after everyone else obviously passed on him. Are we really this desperate? But I will reserve judgment until it actually happens.

I'm done with my rant Eric!! In my job, you deal with alot of this and I know my opinion gets scewed to one side. When you have to deal with a victim of a rape and the mental anguish it causes the victim and family, you look at it from a different perspective.

I understand, but there are two sides to every story and we may or may not know the whole truth here. I don't doubt that it effects the victim long after it stops effecting the perp.

if we give him a scholly..then i will be pissed...

if we let him pay his first year and work to earn a scholly..i am cool with it

he was 13yrs old.... a lot changes with a kid from 13-19...at 13 you are very impressionable and obviously he was hanging out with an older kid who he shouldn't have been

It's not our job to pass judgment on this kid.

That, I lay the blame on the parents

All I can say is.... this kid better be a helluva player and not make any mistakes whatsoever. First sign of trouble and this kid's gone.

That is how it should be. He should be on a shorter leash based on his prior behavior. I wonder how many people have forgiven Jamal Lewis for his drug dealing while here at UT.

That's true that we may not have all the fact, even from the posted link (facts in cases are often incomplete or wrong).

Also, if the kid has no other problem behavior, I think that points to and supports that he did not intend for this prank to go to the point of rape and that the other boy who actually performed the rape was the real one at fault with this part of it.

The facts in the link stated that the boys had played a prank like this in the past (taped a girl to a chair) in the past without raping her with an object. This time someone had the bright idea of going too far with it.

No but we all have the right to if we please. And this is crap, I am sorry but i dont care how long ago it was he had a hand in it some how and thats just perverted and this really REALLY pisses me off. I was behind Kiffin 100% but now I am sick to my stomach. If that was your daughter you sure as hell would pass judgment.

Are you SERIOUSLY trying to compare this disgusting act to what Lewis did? He fronted money for a drug deal, this kid did far much worse. Seriously quit trying to justify what Hood did.

Well I think he's doing it out of necessity now, with how thin our O-Line is. Since he couldn't get the guys he was after, he has to move to the high risk guys. We'll see if it works out

So, because he was involved in something that makes my stomach turn as well as I do have a daughter, he can't change or be sorry and deserve another chance?? If this world had no forgiveness or second chances, then there would be A LOT of people who would be screwed right now.

So one wrong is greater than another?? Sorry, I don't think like that.

What this kid did is more than just a prank. They need to tell this kid thanks but no thanks. Send him on his way.

I agree with you. I think he should have to walk on and maybe be able to earn a scholly later.

How good is he at football. This is very good discussion about his important off field issues. However, I want to know if he's even good enough to play anyway character or not.

Well he obviously made a horrific mistake, but everyone, and I mean everyone deserves a second chance when doing something wrong(especially at such a young age).

I hope he proves all his doubters wrong.

There are people who commit crimes and are released and never do it again yet are ridiculed and made to feel that they aren't worth the skin that is attached to them the rest of their lives. Is that right??

Guy's, This isn't the first time we have been faced with this. Fulmer signed a guy, forget his name, he was accused of raping a girl on a trip to Fla. campus, him and some other UF player's, other schools turned him down, but Fulmer gave him a second chance. I believe he started for us on OL for three years. By the way, David was a man after God's on heart, he commited murder! Forgiveness is the way of healing!JMO Thanks!

Forgive him somewhere else. This is beyond acceptable to me. If your gut tells you its wrong it probably is.

Why in the hell can anyone honestly sit there, read that and have their stomach turn and say its ok. I dont know what makes me more sick, the thought of him coming to UT or the posts of "he better be good" or "how good is he?"

Ridiculous.
