'09 TN DL Daniel Hood (merged)

Never had any legal problems not even a speeding ticket, and I have enforced the law for over 10 years. I have seen enough faces of victims of things like this that I will not just forgive someone that easily. You can sit behind your desks and talk about forgiveness but when you have seen this over and over first hand and what it does to people it wouldnt be so easy.

You can keep preaching forgiveness in here all you want, I am a Christian, probably spend more time in church than most of you going off on the Jesus tangent. God can forgive him but right now I dont feel like this kid needs to be a part of this University, period.

My letter is already in to Mike Hamilton and I am sure there will be plenty more. I am done with this its a losing battle some of you are just too high and mighty in your perfect worlds to see the problem this is.

Looks like your job has made you prejudice in light of your comments here. Only bad people in the world are criminals, right??

I'm not saying that no one should ever be given a second chance, but it's not like he shoplifted or got caught smoking pot. He participated in a sexual assault on a member of his family. Prank or not, tell me any of you would have participated in that at the age of 13.

I'm not condemning him forever, because I don't know what he has learned or who he has become, but I am uncomfortable with bringing him into UT.

Even if he has completely turned his life around, there will be consequences to the chemistry of the team and the PR with fans and possible recruits.

I do see where your coming from BYU vol. I'm just more concerned about people not wanting to forgive him at all. Everyone is entitled to an opinion however, the only thing that should keep him from the university is his Grades, his behavior (improving or not), and abilitiy to play the game. From all I hear he has worked hard on his character. I may be wrong, but not letting go an incident that happened like 5 years ago is rediculous.

You dont think they talked to a lawyer after being charged or prior to them being interviewed about the facts in the case

That is not relevant. The court interviewed other people who were there, including the victim and the other girl. Their stories indicate it started as a prank. Go READ the facts.

The things Jesus did allowed our souls to be washed clean as we stand at the Judgement seat.

I can very easily believe in our Savior and not believe someone should have the privilege of representing the University of Tennessee.

When Christ forgave sin, He also didn't keep throwing that sin up into the sinners face. In other words He forgot when He forgave and that is the example that He gave us and we are to be Christ like.

He can get into Heaven but not UT! Justn wondering!

I have no problems with him attending UTK, my problem with him is being a scholarship athlete representing the university.

Heaven also has different entrance requirements, it is rediculous to bring that into the discussion because there, they don't care about your ACT or GPA. There have been hundreds of thousands rejected from UT that will make it to the Big House (not michigan stadium.) This is not a new precedent.

Hey, if someone is convicted of rape, the courts don't just forget about it 5 years later. Some crimes are so heinous that they don't just go away after a grace period.

oldvol75. As far as the east is from the west. Gone, he forgets it forever. Like a good Casting Crowns Song

People like you are why lots of non-believers don't come to christianity. You are being so prideful and putting yourself on a pedisital. Get over yourself.

Good point. We may disagree about whether he should be a Vol and agree that he should be forgiven.

By they way, I am a BYU grad myself (BS 95 and JD 98). I never went to UT but got accepted to the UT law school. Born and raised in TN so I have always been a UT fan.

This is entirely not worth it. A 3-star rapist??

C'mon. He has to be at least a 4-star recruit to get away with this sort of thing.

How good of a decision maker were you at 13. I know, I know you deal with this often, but maybe that has made your opinion skewed.

I think you look for pattern of behavior. Some people are just scumbags, period. I think this was a wrong place, wrong time incident. Sure he could have made a better decison and regrets to this day he had, but if you haven't walked a mile in someone else's shoes, then you are making biased judgements.

That's stupid. so your saying if it was Bryce Brown you would forgive him, but since he's not a stud, we don't want him at our university. hmmmm...

I don't agree with what the kid did at all, but if Kiffin feels okay about giving him a chance, I will be okay with it. I really don't believe Kiffin would do this if he saw any potential future problems with him. It sure didn't take Kiffin long to cut ties with D.J. Hunter. He pulled his scholly quick when the news came out about his incident.

I'm sorry, I do admit I'm a bit rusty with the Verse, where is it written that he forgot?

There was more than one incident with Hunter though.

it's in the old testement. Which by the way if you read carefully Jesus is mentioned as existing. I want to say psalms but I can get back to you.

My goodness we are talking about a 17 year old kid who made a mistake, let the hate go! If we have this Hate, we are as sick as him! He can be healed from this mistake. We all fall short. I'm not casting a stone at this kid. Let it go!
