Oregon or Auburn to win NC?

It is decidedly worth less than Scam Newton's paycheck. I hope Auburn gets humiliated and the players start playing like the thugs* and cheaters that they are. Go Ducks. I will enjoy seeing the title stripped in a few years if they manage to outscore the Ducks though.

*See: Georgia game

Thugs? Didn't Oregons star player James beat his ex-girlfriend and get suspended for a game this year.

To hell with auburn. The sec doesn't need another ring this year to prove they're still the best. I could handle 4 out of the last 5 national champions being from the sec.

^^

They are BCS titles; Not National Championships.

Basically if you are projected to be a top ten team before the season even starts you're more likely to play for a BCS championship or bowl. And the best part is you only have to prove you're good one night of the year before people deam you "National Champions!" LMAO

Auburn wasn't a pre season top 10 team. :ermm:

And I could've swore most teams played 12 or 13 games. Silly me.

The point is, that the system is designed make it very hard for the step children to make to a BCS bowl. TCU started at #7...hasn't lost a game...and has been jumped by Auburn and Oregon..If I'm a Horned frog, I'm pissed. Talk about being punished for winning...

Their schedule sucked. Their fault. They've gone about fixing that problem now haven't they?

Going undefeated in the MWC is not exactly a mind-blowing feat.

Thats where you're wrong. Most college games are scheduled several years in advance, so it's a gamble trying to get a stronger schedule because by the time you finally play a team, they might not give your schedule any credibly.

TCU is undefeated, and unable to prove how good they are. Thats a system problem not a team problem. And let's say they did have a tough schedule and went undefeated, two other teams with tougher schedules who also went undefeated would jump them anyway. It's a screwed up system.

Have they signed up any big name programs for the coming years?

and this all sounds very similar to the guy who was on here arguing UT should have played undefeated Tulane for the NC in 98.

And you know they would jump them, how?

TCU was ranked above both Auburn and Oregon. None of these three teams have lost a game. Oklahoma jumped TCU as well but ended up falling back down.

Do you watch college football?

preseason polls are absolutely worthless. Congrats to the voters for rewarding the teams that actually beat good teams

How am I wrong? They, for the most part, picked their schedule. It sucked. Their fault.

Oh well. Their fault. As I said, they've gone about fixing the problem. Starting 2012, if they battle through their schedule undefeated, they'll get their shot.

Yeah, I got that part. But, you said that it wouldn't matter if TCU played a tougher schedule then an Oklahoma or an Auburn because they would jump TCU anyway. I was asking how you knew this. I'll hang up and listen.

Auburn will win big IMO. Fairly getting pressure right up the middle will destroy Oregon's spread offense. That's a big key to stopping it.

Uh...wrong. Completely wrong. Perimeter speed and getting pressure on the edges is WAY more important.

Cal held Oregon to 15 by controlling the line of scrimmage. :ermm:

Um. First of all, defensive ENDS are on the line of scrimmage, so you're pretty much just proving my point. Also, Cal was also fast on the edges and didn't allow the Ducks to get to perimeter (a 3-4 like they run helps that).

Oregon will do the same exact thing that they did to Paea against Fairley-avoid him. Paea ended up having 1 tackle in the OSU game, despite being an All-American that bullied our lineman quite a bit in the game. It didn't matter, since the play never came at him.

Um... what?

You are aware that one of the purposes of the DT is to fill the middle(Eliminating the zone read up the gut), freeing up space for both the LB's and DE's(pertaining to your perimeter argument)? This becomes increasingly disruptive if you're forced to double and triple the DT, which I'm sure Oregon will attempt to do.

Fairley has been quite a bit better than Paea this season, and Auburns defensive line is significantly better than OSU's.

Speaking of. Do you recall watching the Texas vs. Nebraska Big XII championship game last season?

cal's dline was among the best in the country. the lbers not so much. this isn't a coincidence.

I don't think some people realize how vital a dominate defensive line is, and furthermore, that NT or DT may be the most important position on the defensive side of the ball.

If you're suggesting that Fairley is even CLOSE to being as good as Suh...
