#1 SC vs #2 Stanford Tuesday deserves its own thread

Elvee and Ivy were ostensibly different posters. elvee, whose moniker was a character from the Simpsons (the comic book guy), posted on the SummiTT before it went private. So, were are talking the Summitt era (and including the CP3 era) and elvee would always rant on about how the team had regressed from some mythical by gone golden age, how the game had passed CPS by, how the LVs were falling behind other teams with better offensive minded coaches and that, whatever success the LVs had with CP3 was due to a general decline in WCBB. (thus, when the LVs were not winning a championship during CP3 redshirt season, it was because the game had moved well beyond the limits of CPS' coaching skills and when they then won back to back titles, the entire women's had fallen into shambles).

elvee was very good at hedging statements and moving goal posts to never be "wrong." elvee also seem to despise Maria Cornelius and constantly complained about how MC would edit her posts.

I vaguely recall Ivy getting into arguments with other posters and bragging about (her?) Harvard degree but she lacked the poison pill perniciousness of elvee/Darth.
I found Ivy more insidious. With Darth you know what you're going to get

I’ll say this, I enjoy this board and I enjoy each poster in their own way, yes, even Darth.

Just really like prodding him as he’s so keen to prod others. My “attacks” on Darth are generally only personal when he makes direct, personal, repeated comments about the players.

I used to post all sorts of criticism of players/coaches. I was a vehement Holly hater and for a time Darth and I’s posts were very similar lol. Was so relieved when a change was made I really didn’t care who was our next coach.

Learned eventually the criticism serves little purpose on this site. I believe it’s OK to point out bad plays/body language in the game threads as it’s happening. But to post the same disparaging comments about some of these young women over, and over, and over again is just rude and serves no purpose unless you’re trying to personally hurt them in some way.

Im not a fan of people who are continually negative when the program is making positive strides. It takes a lot to build a positive culture and a fan base. We don’t need our own “fans” tearing it down.

I play both sides of the coin on here a lot. Some of my posts are contentious but in the last 2 years I’ve really tried to have a more positive tone when discussing the players or the team.

To all of you: You are my friends whether you like it or not. The love for our LVs is obvious above all else that separates us. Long live the Lady Vols and Merry Christmas!

Your memory is off on this one. Ivy was toxic AF. She would routinely tell people to go kill themselves. Darth can be annoying, but he's nowhere as hostile as Ivy was.

For someone relatively new to the board, yes I'd agree with you. But this is someone who's been posting here at least since I've been in 2014. And he knows a lot...A LOT...about all aspects of Tennessee's athletic program: football, basketball (M and W), administration, etc. I still think he was a Vols fan who got turned off by the decline in the athletic programs. I'm not sure why he's posting still. Probably so he could say, "see, I told you so!" We all know he was bitter about the Kellie hiring. Tbh, I felt the same way he did. I've since warmed up to her a bit, but some SOME of the criticism he's thrown at her is valid.

If he posts something I think is interesting, I don't mind going back and forth with him. But if I think he's just trolling for attention, I just move on past his posts.

So, maybe he feels betrayed and angry at the decline, and has fallen into some deep pessimistic dumps. Takes all kinds, I guess.

But I don't ever see him on the other boards. I've been posting since this past spring. He seems to me to be only a fan of the LV's, to my experience.

Weird as it sounds, yes...I truly believe that first sentence sums up our dear friend Darth. I think he probably would have been happy to see Walz hired, and since he predicted Kellie would be a bust, he's trying to wish it to fruition so he can say he was right (like with Holly).

I don't follow other UT sports, but he posts a lot about them on this board as reference points, whether past football or basketball seasons. Also has strong opinions about actions taken by the administrators. That's not the behavior of a fan from another school trying to masquerade as a UT fan.

Elvee isn't posting here, unless she changed her handle.

Idk how you can even remember the ESPN board. I definitely used to post there but I have no idea what my username was. Can’t hardly remember any of the posters but I wasn’t a frequent flyer.

Lots of history around here lol. Bunch a nuts we are.

Elvee was on The Summitt, not ESPN board. I mostly remember those I interacted with on the ESPN board, like volman and others who are sadly passed on now. It was a good community, was sad to see it go. I liked engaging with fans with other teams without there being a "home court advantage"

I kinda think I used to visit with BUBear on there. For some reason I feel like he was over there too

Yup, he was. I remember lots of spirited conversations with Baylor fans during the 2004 tournament when Kim showed she knew how to breakdance during the NCAAT game vs Tenn 😂

She’s busted some moves of the years 😂

The jacket escape in the Louisville game will forever be my favorite.

Honestly, probably the only coach that has gifs? An icon 😂

It does not surprise me to see Amb3096 is still the smartest one in the room...
