Thought this was interesting...
Add 15lbs to Propst and he has measurable's that are that of a former All American and top 5 NFL pick LB. That LB was rated as a Rivals 3* (#30 LB) and had an offer list that consisted of mostly Big 10 schools. Propst is a 3* that is ranked as the #25 LB according to rivals.
That LB was former Ohio St and current Green Bay LB Aj Hawk.
Now, I am in no way saying that that Propst will turn out to be anything like AJ Hawk. I am simply saying that they are of a similar size and are ranked similarly by some of the scouting services.
Yeah no doubt, most of those rivals times are inflated.
So this is the only guy not inflated at rivals? His time is true and all the other 4.5 guys aren't? There is a HUGE difference between 4.5-4.55 and 4.68. If he was tall and had a frame to pack on another 30 lbs maybe. Your kidding yourself if you don't think most of the lbs at tenn didn't run around the 4.5 mark especially at that size.

I clearly said most rivals times are inflated, and three posts earlier I said I doubt he really runs a 4.68. More then likely a high 4.7 or 4.8. Nick Reveiz probably runs a 4.9. Linebacker is not all about straight ahead speed, you have to have good quickness, good feet and hips, and the ability to get off of blocks. That is what makes a great linebacker, not a 40 time.

Sorry, thought you were implying the other times were incorrect. Yes, I think reveis is a good linebacker without prototypical heighth or speed. Bit you know that for every zach Thomas or reveis there are hundreds of guys with the same stats that aren't those guys. That's why thier stories are so good, they are rare. I'm not saying this kid is bad, I'm just saying nothing here tells me he is great. Not bashing him, but no celebration here over his signing
All true, and since we have no measure of any of those other things other than 40/ height/weight, I'll continue to judge on the facts we have so far and not dream up the hypothetical zac Thomas we signed. On the numbers he's slower for the position than we normally recruit and average to below average size. Hope he is agrest kid and the next al Wilson, but once again, way too much reaching and making up possible scenarios here.
Its a reach for you to look at 40 time/ht/wt and say he can't play in the SEC.
I'm glad the coaches look at tape to evaluate, and not just these criteria.
Never said he couldn't play in the sec. Just that this is not something that's very exciting for the program right now. And of course the coaches do more, these numbers are completely inadequate to eval the kid. But on a message board, these are what u get from a service and there is nothing here to excite. Once agian not bashing or claiming I know more than I do. I know what the numbers say and no more. Same for the others here. Reaches like these actually worry me a bit because they tell me that the staff doesn't think we have much a shot at some of the players that have graded out higher. Sorry, just the truth.
Graded out higher by the online services.
The missing piece is how are they graded out by LT and CDD?
In the end, we will succeed only if our 10 guys can look at a guy and project him to our team, not if we can convince the top rivals stars to come to our team.

um, we have gone after several linebackers that were higher rated. And none of the other higher end sec schools have offered him. If the services were so off, someone else in the sec would have figured it out. Heck he's in Sabans back yard. There is just no way this can be spinner other than we need bodies and are willing to reach for a kid that normally wouldn't get a chance.
