Yeah, I understand. That happens all the time. Can u Name 3 times that has happened at UT in the last 10 years.

Yes?????????????????????????/

You mean 3 times they have missed on players? I can think of around 5 in the past 2 years that were overrated by the services but were must-haves for UT at the time.

Look at all the NFL players from lower division schools and tell me they didn't have the talent to play. Who did we take instead of Patrick Willis? How did that work out for a 2* linebacker?

I'll ask you to re-read your comments to me.

You r absoloutly right and I have removed the Kool aid comment.

Still cant believe we are giving so much rope to this coach ( who I like by the way) at no time have I ever seen such a love fest. I like him but IMO this kid would be a monumental reach..GBO

Sorry for the earlier sarcasim..

LOL..Please get off the computer Coach Fulmer. We all know its you...

Oh, I'm sorry even Fulmer would not have signed this kid.. Sorry. HAHAHEHEHTEETOHOHOHOHHAAHAHOO!! Whew!!!

I wish our whole class was filled with the quality and recognition of this fine young player.. Pass the Kool - aid please.

You have opinions and I have opinions. Unless Obama continues to change the freedoms of America, I will continue to voice mine and hope you do the same. Its really improper to attack people just because their opinion differs from yours. :finger3:
Well since you know so much coach, tell me what you look for on a linebacker. Obviously you know more than CLT. Oh I see, what you want or see in a linebacker is a star. That's all. You know my fav player ever for the vols? Al Wilson. Pretty good player huh? Guess what, he wasn't a 5 star all American lb coming out of high school. If I could use the men in black memory eraser flash thing, its be on you. And hope when it was over you'd pick another team to root for and other fans to annoy.

I have given the man no rope whatsoever. I think it was an awful hire. Might work out in the end, but we've anointed him because he worked for Saban. That's absurd to me.

I did not say missed on highly rated players, everyone does that. Take ur time and read the post. I said, Sign unknown players and by unknown I mean like this kid, who is UNKNOWN, that have went on the be very productive players...

The fact is we are splitting hairs. I dont think UT needs this type of recruit and u do. Its as simple as that... GBO

unknown vs overrated are still pretty much the same thing. You rely on the services while others choose to rely on coaches evals.

You have zero knowledge of what kind of player he is besides a star rating and a youtube vid. It's as simple as that

Wow 5 players in a league of 1500. Great odds there. i'm sure u may find a few more if u look real hard. Also did any of these players go to Tennessee(NO) and that was the post.

Obviously you were not a math major if you think the averages of your argument are in your favor.

I simply would not sign this fellow and u would. I belive that the overwhelming data would be in my favor.

I dont dislike u I just disagree...GBO

Does anyone know what size of school this kid plays for and the level of competition? Is it a small 1-A or is it a larger school like 5A?

I was getting ready to post the same thing. Hughes was not even on the radar until UT offered him. Then rivals picked up the story and put him on their site as a 2*. We all know he was overlooked and is a beast. If LT thinks this kid can play for UT, I say bring him on.

100% correct. I remember it well.

Inky Johnson, Ryan Karl, Elix Wilson, Montori Hughes

Those are the 2* players. UT hasn't had many of them. If you want to talk about 3* players that turned into stars the list gets much longer.

I suppose that all of the other Universities in the South that rely on their coaches evaluations have pretty much agreed.

It's as simple as THAT!!

They seem to think he is the next Mike Singletary I guess...Because they are all after him???

There are way more than that. You know that don't you?
I dont have the time to list every player that has ever played in the NFL that was overlooked by a big school.

You tell us not to drink the Kool-Aid, yet all you can see is stars.

6A and his team went 7-5. Got blown out by Tuscaloosa but lost the others by a very small margin.

Now what system is that coach. Please tell us, everyone is dying to know. I don't mean to be a smart @$$ but what in the heck r u talking about...

I guess the kid did not fit the systems of Ala.,UGA,FSU,UNC,LSU,Kentucky or Middle Tennessee either since no one and I mean NO ONE has offered him. GET OFF THE KOOL-AID MAN!!!!

I'm not saying the kid will be a four year starter but he has the ideal height/weight/speed combo to be a very good outside linebacker. he also shows something that you cant teach and that is instinct for where the football is.
You people put way too much stock into rivals/scout video and star rankings. There are a lot of kids whose high school coaches don't have the contacts with college schools to get their kids noticed. Trust me...if your coach doesn't get the tapes out to the coaches to see then you will go unnoticed.

Happened to myself. My Head coach never sent the first tape out on me to colleges. Now granted this was in the middle 90's and vhs was still king but I mean come on. I wound up with a football college scholarship but had to go about it the hard way by walking on at a college due to the lack of exposure and beating out the blue chip athletes who came from bigger Cities/programs. People play harder with a chip on their shoulder. Let's see what this kid can do.
