'10 AL LB Raiques Crump

Actually there are alot of them. Just look at the NFL rosters and count the players from non-BCS schools. Few if any of those guys were highly rated.

You will lose this argument every time. Tony Romo was an undrafted free agent out of Western Illinois. Drew Brees wasn't highly rated out of HS. Favre was out of USM and no one really wanted him as a QB out of HS. Kurt Warner was unheard of out of N Iowa. Colston wasn't even rated by the recruiting services when he went to Hofstra.

Walter Payton... Jerry Rice?

The list goes on and on of guys who flew under the radar and played at small schools then went on to NFL success.

Did not say highly rated. We are talking about a guy who is NOT!! rated. Their the coaches they can give him a scholarship if they want. I hope they dont.

If eventually he becomes a decent prospect then the other schools around will notice and that may change my op. I am sure it will. Today not..

imo we have a good chance to land this kid. wonder how he went under the radar for so long, he's starting to get a lot of attention.

Way,WAY,WAY under the radar.... LOL

We may have a great chance to land him, because no one else is recruiting him....

Crump 4 Heisman..

You are right. Why dosent he? I think that question should be answered that's all. Don't you??

Ok ma'am here's your answer.

1. Recruiting services don't go to every high school in America to evaluate talent. Neither do college coaches. NCAA universities and recruiting evaluators rely on the prospects coming to them i.e. camps, unofficial visits, highlight tapes from high school coaches, and so on.

2. These camps and visits cost money and many cannot attend. Not every high school coach is interested in getting there kids into D1 schools to play football. Simply put, not every kid in America has the same access, or opportunities that many of the 5*'s have.

3. Also there is an inherent bias in services like, ESPN rates under armor recruits higher than U.S. Army recruits for various reasons.

If you knew anything about the situation you'd know it took a completely different coach than this kids head coach, that does this sort of thing to get his name to LT. LT evaluated and offered. He makes 6 figures to do this and you make carbon dioxide and do nothing. So. Bugger off.

Hey mo. Hughes wasn't rated until UT offered him. There are a several great players in the NFL who weren't rated. I listed some of them.

Just admit you are wrong or at a minimum shut up... but for goodness sake stop making an absolute fool of yourself.

BTW, I noticed that you are now trying to twist your statements so you don't have to admit you were wrong. Show you are a man and admit it when you aren't right. You don't make yourself look like a BIG BOY by continuing to argue and evade.

I am all about finding hidden gems, but I do have to admit this one's starting to sound like Nick Lamaison *juuuuust* a little.

"He's gone under the radar, the staff loves him, Div. I schools have just had no chance to see his film yet" etc. etc.

I'm not convinced the UT staff was ever really high on Lamaison. I believe he was more of an insurance policy than anything. He was the best option at the time.

If we didn't have Laimison, we were two plays away from sending a walkon into a game.

Definitely not arguing that, but that was the prevailing thought among those of us who were trying to view the situation optimistically. "Why would we offer him if he can't play?" etc. I think that happens with QB's a lot, just because of the position. People think a scholarship offer really means a chance to play, and I don't think that was ever really the case with the last staff.

In hindsight, I think Laimison's offer was the equivalent of "Want a free education in exchange for running the scout team?"

Guys if the coach at Jess Lanier who recommended him says he can play. He can play! The guy coached DeMeco Ryans, Corey White, Kerry Rhodes and now Ladarius Owens just to name a few.

1. If he commits to UT, Crump will have 2* within the week.

2. We have excess schollys to give, with little time to build recruiting relationships.

3. Due to "the Ole Miss rule", we can't really make up for it next year.

4. Look for our class to get filled with some Boise St style signings. Worst case scenario, they are better than the walk-ons we had starting last year, who played tenaciously, but were over matched in every possible way.

5. This guy has the measurables and the character. This young man will be here five years, graduate, and hopefully contribute on the field. At this point, a graduation is worth the scholly.

The 28 cap doesn't apply to EE's.

If we are short this year, we can sign the same number of EE's next midterm as we are short this year.

The way its looking, I don't see us being that short. And I don't see us filling it up for the sake of getting warm bodies either. I think this will be a good class when its all said and done.

I just hope the OL is good. That looks to be the big, glaring weakness still.

Crump 4 Hiesman..

At least spell Heisman right...geez.

Say it with me.....He is man...pretty simple.

Other than that, if his HS coach says he can play, he can play, looking at the names on the list that has he coached is impressive, not only that but if our staff wants to offer, by all means...let the professionals do their job.
