'10 AR RB Michael Dyer

Why is he still making an announcement when he told the reporters that wrote the article that he already committed to auburn. That doesn't make sense.

Well it's not like it was a secret to begin with. Not much punch taken out of it really. Just wants to do it on TV.

We have the best shot at landing Dyer of anyone outside of Auburn. Period. Orgeron has been on him like white on rice to visit and he is planning on coming the weekend of the Memphis game. Dakota Mosley will accompany him.

Nation's top running back Michael Dyer to pick Auburn on Nov. 6th

Michael Dyer (Little Rock, Ark./Christian), the No. 6-rated overall prospect in the Class of 2010, told Vype.com that his mind is made up. He will give a soft verbal to the Tigers.

"I wanted to get it over with," said Dyer, who had considered waiting until after the season to make the decision. "I wanted to commit, so people knew there was a school I was into."

"If a coach wants me to come on a visit, I will," Dyer added. "I'm going to commit to Auburn, but the recruiting process will continue."
ESPN. But hes sill going to Visit.

So what the hell does "committing" to Auburn do? He is still gonna take visits and look at other schools. He makes no sense.

It means absolutely nothing...just ask Demarco Cobbs. I would expect of few more to drop from our current committs, but the spots will be filled quickly.

Translation: He's going to name Auburn his leader, then UT and Arkansas will get the opportunity to change his mind if either one can impress him more.

This "commitment" means diddly squat to me.

MOSTTTT commitments these days mean nothing! These kids are constantly weighing their options and I don't blame 'em! Where they go to college and what they accomplish there could shape the rest of their lives... Basically, a commitment just means "early favorite" IMO!

...As stated in a Volnation blog, Cody Riggs did not commit early enough, now he appears to be begging for someone to take his commitment. If he had "committed" earlier, he could still changed his mind, but he would be safely in a major program. I believe in real commitment, but it is a jungle out there. What's a prospect supposed to do? Thus, the need to do their homework and commit early, but then what happens if the coach is fired?

Oh if only life could be so simple!

dyer is a longshot i think we get a guy like keon williams or nick parker and we'll be lost and left in the dust by all the big guys like dyer and seastrunk

Dyer is not a "longshot". When you are in a recruits Top 2, and they are gonna take an official visit to see you.....those arent "bad" odds. We may be loaded at the position he plays, but Kiffin has proven that if freshmen deserve it, they WILL play at UT, regardless of who is in front of them on the depth chart.

Nobody is a long shot with our staff. Bryce was a long shot last year. Guess what happened?

Yeah....apparently Cobbs de-committing brought out the negative Nancies in bunches. Did people HONESTLY think we would be the ONLY team immune to de-commitments?

It's recruiting! We win some and lose some. But in the end with our staff we will win big. Chill out Nancies!

Dorsey is not coming in this week. He does not have a test on file with the clearinghouse.

The news of the day is from Arkansas where Dakota Mosley and Michael Dyer are apparently en route and will be here for the weekend for their official visit.

Isn't he scheduled to be taking his official here next week? I wonder if he'll still make that trip too. If he does see us 2 weeks in a row, it can't hurt.

You can only take one official to a school. If AU continues to lose and we put on a show tonight, who knows. Orgeron refuses to let Dyer say no.

Pretty sure that today would be an unofficial visit for him since it wasn't reported sooner. Official visits have to be cleared before hand and are impossible to keep quiet. If today were an official we would have known well beforehand.

EDIT: Sorry, just read the full quote instead of stopping at "would be here". Obviously I was wrong. My apologies.

No problem. We need to put on a show for Dyer tonight. This would be HUGE!
