Kid is being recruited to play DE, TE, and linebacker from other schools. I am excited that he is coming to UT for an official.

In the Rivals article about Scroggins, Jesse mentions that he speaks to Jacques Smith who is recruiting him hard. Jesse also says that he speaks to Powell about UF and USC. No mention of UT. Interesting

Powell's first trip to Gainesville this summer went well and the Moreno Valley (Calif.) Rancho Verde star said he will return later this month for Friday Night Lights. Southern Cal is also high on his list and he mentioned Tennessee, California and UCLA as other schools still being considered.

Per Rivals... He's making a 2nd trip to Gainesville for the Friday Night Lights camp. I really wish we could get an unofficial on his way back to Cali...

He's USC/UF, but he told me he wanted to take all 5 officials, and one to Tennessee, so you never know.

Florida and USC are on top, UT is 3rd, and UCLA next.

I haven't been to Tennessee, I've only talked to their coaches," Powell said. "Tennessee is an up and coming program, just like UCLA is.

"Being a part of an up and coming program and being part of it from the ground, can be a great thing," Powell said. "That's why they (Tennessee and UCLA) are being considered."

Honestly I'm not sure how he's even mentioning us. Really though, this is the type of kid who is going to will his team to a national title sometime in his time there. He's that sort of dominant on the defensive line. Hell, he could even play both ways in college. Has there ever been a linemen thats done that recently?

Not to any great extent. Hard to do. Im sure there are a few. Most that I have seen, were a lot better a one or the the other. But not both.

I think it'd be a lot easier for DE/TE which is probably what he would be doing than something like Guard/DT.

I'm kind of narrowing things down right now," Powell said. "Florida, USC, Tennessee, UCLA and I have a couple other schools that I'm thinking about. I still want to check out Cal, there are a couple more that I haven't really been able to evaluate.

"To be safe, USC and Florida are my top two schools right now and Tennessee would probably be in the top three," Powell said. "UCLA is also a school that I'm considering."

i feel like were his number 3 just as a formality or something right now. but maybe if he visited we could blow him away.

USC or Florida are the clear leaders right now. He's already made one visit to Florida, is coming for FNL, and is coming AGAIN probably for the UT-UF game.

That and USC has been his #1 for a long time.

The rising high school senior lined up and caught some passes during receiving drills and switched to the other side of the ball as well, displaying his freakish athleticism by lining up at linebacker.

"They're talking about playing me on both sides of the ball – defensive end and tight end," Powell said.
