'10 CA QB Chase Rettig

You can redshirt someone at the end of the season if they don't play? I thought you had to red shirt them before the season and you can pull it during the season if you need them.

The redshirt is actually determined at the end of the season. So yes, while you may determine a guy is going to redshirt for the year at the beginning and communicate that to him, you don't actually confirm it until the season is up. As long as a player doesn't play, he is eligible for a redshirt. That's the same time you file for a "medical" redshirt. That's why you don't hear the results of those until the completion of the season.

Except when it comes to having anybody for Rettig to throw and hand off to or fo r anyone to block for him.

The only logical reason Rettig would choose BC is that he doesn't expect to play football past college and he wants to get the best degree he can possibly get while having little football pressure on him.

No QB in their right mind who wants to play in the NFL would choose BC over UT at this point. Losing Jags was the worst thing that could possibly happen to BC and will make sure that they stay at the bottom of the ACC for years to come.

In case you didn't notice we had to of the best freshman RBs in the nation last year, and they were true freshman. We also brought in two more last year that we think we will good players in a couple if years. We brought our whole O=Line back from last year, and only lose one after this year. There is a reason we are called O-Line U. Our WRs are fine. We have a RS FR and a SOPH that will be big playmakers, and we are in on Shakim Phillips and Brandon Coleman this year. This year I am only thinking we can get to 7-5 unless a QB steps up which hasn't happened yet. Also look at the last couple of years. Who has put out more QBs that were successful in the NFl the last couple of years,BC or TENN? I'll let you answer that.

^^^^^^^
Have to agree with the QB thing........UT has only had one that has done anything in the NFL....ever.

But UT is on the rise and BC does appear to be on a downward turn.

Boston College has 3 quarterbacks in the NFL while Tennessee has 2. Here is problem with this guys argument... our coaching staff is completely different. Let's look at the quarterbacks UT's new staff has coached and recruited. Drew Brees, Carson Palmer(I think), Matt Cassell(I think), Matt Leinart, Mark Sanchez, John David Booty and Kyle Orton. Does Boston College have the same offensive coordinator or quarterback coach? If the same guys who coached Hasselback, Ryan, and St. Pierre aren't there then I don't see how the argument that BC has more qb's in the NFL is relevant. Even if BC has the same offensive coordinator and quarter back coach.... Lane and Chaney have helped produce more NFL quarterbacks than Boston College.

BC had TWO of the top freshman RB's in the nation last year? Thats news to me.....never heard of them, and I keep up with all of CFB pretty good....or so I thought maybe.

Well let me clarify that. Montel Harris was defenitely one of the top FR RBs when it came to production. Josh Haden would have, and did very well when healthy. He was hampered with injuries all season. I think without them, and the O-Line we would have struggled last year because we were limited on offense as it was because we didn't have a very productive QB. The D was great, but we were winning all 13-10 games. If the D had a bad game we had no shot. So I guess the two was streching it because of Haden's injuries, that was my mistake. I think if a QB steps up we will most defenitely win more than 5 games. This team has a lot of motavation this year. They are playing for Herzy, and IMO you can't underestimate that. The D will still be good as well. Lastly I agree that with the new coaching staff that UT will start to produce more QBs,but if you look at the only one that has been productive in the NFL has been Palmer. Leinart is a bust, and Booty won't be anything more than a backup. I hope nobody takes this the wrong way because I have a lot of respect for UT and all your tradition, but I think right now BC is a better place for Rettig. He will fit in better in Boston than he would in Knowville coming from So. Cal.
Edit: Our QB coach is the same, and is still here. He is the heir apparent to the Off. Coordinator job,and then probably HC. He is also the WR coach, but still works with the QBs.

What...? Drew Brees has been better than Carson Palmer. What about Matt Cassel? They all three have career passer ratings above 88. Even Orton has been adequate. Last year with the Bears and their crappy receivers he threw for 2,972yds 58.5% 18tds and 12ints. Mark Sanchez we don't know yet and you're right Matt Leinart was a bust. Either way... Brees, Palmer, Cassel, Orton and Sanchez will all be starting this season. All of them got huge pay days(including Leinart) except for Orton.

Carson Palmer 6yrs 118million
Matt Cassel 6yrs 63million
Drew Brees 6yrs 60million
Matt Leinart 5yrs 51million
Mark Sanchez 5yrs 50million

Not sure why Palmers contract is double everyone else's but whatever.

Sorry about that I was thinking just USC guys. I don't know how I forgot Cassell though being a PATS fan.

Haha. I would probably forget about that season also if I were a Patriots fan. Missing the playoffs isn't something Patriot fans are used to in recent years. 10-6 and missing the playoffs.... that is crazy. Even crazier is that is a down year for them. Argh. I wish my teams could have that type of success.

I thought NE was 11-5 last year?

Palmer received a 6 year extension of his contract with three years remaining, making it 9 years for 118M.

Okay, there ya go. I knew it said extension but couldn't find anything else besides 6 years. Didn't think 118mil over six years sounded right. Thanks for finding that. That's a lot of money between all of those guys. A lot of money for one guy.

Yes, you have put more QBs in the NFL than UT has during one of our worst periods in history and certainly the worst in the last 20 years.

Who refers to BC as O-Line U? Seriously? :eek:lol: I have never heard that in my life and I am wondering if that is something that BC fans came up with.

Even in our down periods UT produces more OL than BC ever has or will. There is no way you have placed more OL in the NFL in the last 10 years than UT, USC, most SEC schools, Michigan, Ohio State....

QB is the only position that BC has had even average NFL placement at.

You are also grossly exaggerating your RBs.
