'10 CA QB Chase Rettig

You guys wait until the SEC gets blasted into every living room in the country on several different channels. Guys from all over the country are going to be beating down the doors wanting to play in the SEC. You can't buy that type of exposure and we're getting paid HANDSOMELY for it. ESPN is billing us as the best conference out there. They are basically saying there is the NFL, and then there's SEC football. You think it's competitive now, just wait.

And that is just the way it should be.

Anyways, I just thought I'd give this thread a bump with commitments from Ambles and Milton. The staff always said they are going to continue calling kids who have verbal commitments. I would prefer Bray and believe Bray is more likely to back out on SDST than Rettig with BC. I just think Rettig has to be looking at us and I'm sure this staff is still in his ear. The only WR Boston College has so far for this class is a 2*. His other offers were Syracuse, Tulane, Villanova and New Hampshire. This may sound stupid but I didn't even know Villanova had a football team... So, the quarterback saga continues and I wouldn't be surprised if Rettig is regretting his decision.

Yeah, Clawson was their OC from 96-98.

You just wait. Every other conference is going to be whining about SEC bias. Our players are going to get the exposure for awards like never before. ESPN is changing their friggin' logo to incorporate the SEC on all of our games. This ESPN deal is huge. We are getting 3 times what other schools are just for playing our regular season.

I really don't think it has sunk in around here how big of a deal this is Sab. Especially for recruiting....We might not lose a kid like Scroggins in the future because his parents will know they'll be able to watch every game on tv. The SEC will become THE LEAGUE, our games will be shown all over the place and rerun...It will take a nation of talent and funnel it down south. I CAN"T WAIT!!!!!!!!!!

I know it might be off topic, but along with Sabs comments it makes sense...

The "SEC Network" - ESPN's Regional Television's over-the-air syndication network that replaces Raycom - will span not only all nine states in the SEC footprint, but is slated to be shown in Big 12 (Houston, Dallas, San Antonio), Big Ten (Detroit, Chicago, Columbus, Ohio, Indianpolis) and Big East (Pittsburgh and New York) markets as well as Los Angeles. It will be shown in Atlanta on Peachtree TV.

The 73-market network will nearly double the audience from last year and cover more than 50 percent of the country.

"When I'm even in Seattle, I'll be at Starbucks and a guy will say to me 'I love what you did on College Football Live. I'm a huge Gator fan or I'm a diehard Kentucky fan,' " said Brock Huard, a former Washington quarterback who will be the analyst for the new ESPNU Saturday night SEC games. "Once you get into this conference, I think you get addicted to it and the people follow it wherever they are."

Just saw ESPN first take interviewing this former baseball player who's going to play at BC. ESPN showed BC's depth chart.

2 true freshman
1 RS Freshman
1 RS sophomore
and this walk on 25 year old?

What the heck is Rettig thinking? Our QB depth chart next year is

Ginger senior
Lamaison junior
Rozier? whatever

Wow. that's all I can say.
:eek:hmy:

Stephens is a junior
Lamaison is a true sophomore
Rozier, a freshman

and you forgot JC, who is a senior.

If Rettig puts on weight, and improves his mechanics he might start as a true Freshman. The 25 year old is a total unknown, and the other true freshman will never do anything. The RS Freshman is the only one that can give him a run for his money, but he hasn't been impressive at all. Our depth chart is not a problem.

Lamaison will be a redshirt sophomore next year.
That's the thinking.

Wow. If you are down to starting Rettig as a true freshman, then you guys are in trouble this year. Rettig is FAR away from being ready to see the field in any significant role. This kid has a lot to work on and is going to need some time in a system for at least a year. You start him as a true freshman and you may screw him up permanently.

What about your wide receivers? :p Honest question. I really don't know but the incoming receivers for this class don't seem to be very good. It appears their leading receiver from last season is gone and they've only brought in a couple 3 star wide receivers in the past few years.

You are assuming that he redshirts this year. If he does not, then this year will count as an eligibility year and he will be a junior next year.

The only way he doesn't redshirt this year is if he wins the starting job, which I don't see happening.

I disagree. IMO, the only way he redshirts is if Rozier emerges as a clear back up to Stephens/Crompton. Having Stephens and Crompton as the only viable options is a big problem. Rozier is too much of an unknown to risk redshirting Lamaison.

You can wait and redshirt him after the year is over. If we don't "need" him next year & he doesn't play, there is nothing to really risk....we through the redshirt tag on him.....he's good for insurance.

You can redshirt someone at the end of the season if they don't play? I thought you had to red shirt them before the season and you can pull it during the season if you need them.

Except when it comes to having anybody for Rettig to throw and hand off to or fo r anyone to block for him.

The only logical reason Rettig would choose BC is that he doesn't expect to play football past college and he wants to get the best degree he can possibly get while having little football pressure on him.

No QB in their right mind who wants to play in the NFL would choose BC over UT at this point. Losing Jags was the worst thing that could possibly happen to BC and will make sure that they stay at the bottom of the ACC for years to come.
