It's as serious as falling for a girl that you want to marry. You ask her but she's not sure. Finally she tells you no, that she is in love with another. They get married and things don't pan out. should you take her back if she comes calling? HELL no!

Man, I'm actually thinking about this more and more after watching videos and he actually SEEMS 17. A lot of these kids seem much older--more developed mentally--which is huge for a quarter back at such a level. I hope he does well though. That Pete Carroll is a BS artist. Having a black quarterback didn't bring anything together in our community, but maybe the team that won the NC. Although Wilson had a lot to do with it too. What a crock.

did anyone notice how he said in the interview that he "actually spoke to Mark (Sanchez)"? Isn't that a recruiting violation? Didn't think a recruit could talk to any former players while being recruited...

+1
he's a kid. let it be.

seriously, the dorks on here who live and die by what a kid who just came off of being a JUNIOR in high school kill me. Stop crying over spilled milk, we lost out on a kid from CA to USC of all schools, is that really so hard to believe???

My brother talked to him and he said he is really excited for the Georgia game.

We still have a chance,he hasn't signed anything.

Sour grapes just can't be as good as we continue to make them appear.

This guy isn't Lemay/Bridgewater/Golsen. Yes he could always change his mind but the coaches aren't actively pursuing him hard and he's not the golden boy UT needs. On Nov. 10 if TBridgewater commits to UGA then I guarantee you Kiffin will be all over him for a year and a half until he changes his mind.

We have bigger fish to go after. Scroggins had his chance. Wish him well, but we can surely land another top QB by next spring.

I would have liked to have had Scroggins but it sure hasn't negatively affected recruiting for us as far as I can tell. But there is no sense in wishing ill will towards a kid who can go and play for the team he grew up rooting for, lack of class by some.

:good!:

I hate to keep beating this dead horse by talking about this kid, but I'm glad that he isn't coming to UT. He really seems very unintelligent and didn't give a good reason that he is going to USC.

What stands out about USC? "Being at home"

What kind of logic is that, he at least should have said, even though I will be on the bench for a while, but I am definitely going to be on a winning team that will probably go to the Rose Bowl every year.

Also, at one point he said that he is a competitor. Then, later he said he doesn't mind being redshirted and only playing one year. If the guy was a true competitor he would have said I will work as hard as possible to be the best, and I will try and play my first year or ASAP. Or if he was a real competitor, loved the game, and wasn't scared I think he would want to go to a school where he has a shot at playing right away.

Finally, I think he also wants to go there because it is being pampered. Sit on the bench for a few years and take it easy. Then senior season play against weak pac 10 defenses and get drafted high and have a poor NFL career like Leinherd. (Even though he played more than one year)

It's j. Scroggs things people need to know in life and that would be that im a leader not a follower...i dont follow the crowd... Im lookin for ways out so i can make myself and my family better...if u do me like i do me we can do eachother and be better...life goes so fast and has so little opportunitys... I dont want to be left behind bcuz of some stupid incident or i dont want to be 2 years from now playin bball at the park sayin i used to... the worst thing i fear in life is regret... j scroggs

You know, I don't think I've ever seen this quote before. Especially not in the Scroggins thread.

cant you people let this go, put yourself in his shoes if you were a huge ut fan and they offered where would you go? best of luck to him.

I would be willing to bet that a lot of Vol fans that say that don't want him now, would be happy as hell if he changed his mind (I'm not saying he will though). Bryce Brown made the college football world wait a long time and people on VN said they didn't want him because he was "playing this back and forth game," but were jumping for joy when he picked us. Give the kid a break, he still has until Feb. before he signs on the dotted line and it's his choice if he wants to ride the pine at USC.

nice post......

can we all forget about scroggins please, he isnt coming here, yea its a long way from feb, but i say there is a .1% chance he changes his mind, yes .1 so y are we still complaing and putting the kid down, i wanted him just as bad as everyone else, but he made his choice and it wasnt us, get over it

I know I need to move on but here is the latest on the QB situation in LA as of yesterday:

"After the Trojans' opening day of camp last Saturday, USC QB coach Jeremy Bates said Barkley's strong arm -- and his confidence in it -- reminded him of Jay Cutler. Bates, a one-time Tennessee QB, also said that Barkley's smarts and maturity conjured up images of a young Peyton Manning. At Tuesday's practice, Barkley not only displayed the big arm (hitting Joe McKnight in stride on a long touchdown pass and Damian Williams on another deep ball for a TD) but also showed some growth by checking down to receivers and one time throwing the ball out of bounds when no receivers were open, a nod to those overzealous tendencies."

So Jesse's hopes to back this guy up for 3 years and then compete for the starting job with the other QB's they recruit behind him. I just don't get it? I've got to believe Jesse will rethink his commitment.

Scroggins isn't going anywhere but USC. He knows he will not have a chance to start until Barkley leaves, but he's apparently OK with it.

I don't mean to beat a dead horse...and I know it's neither here nor there at this point...but I just don't get this...

If Scroggins were a low 3* prospect or less then I guess I could understand wanting to hold the clipboard for your favorite team...

But Scroggins is a legit D-1 prospect that could make a career out of playing QB if he went into the right situation...

Yet he's completely comfortable knowing he will ride the pine for at least 3 years and then compete with whatever stud Carroll has brought in behind him....

It makes no sense for someone of his talent to be cool with this

Personally, I think he has a girlfriend at home or something and that is why he doesn't want to leave the area. Or he is a huge mama's boy.

I wouldn't be surprised if Scroggins never saw the field as a starting QB at USC.

That being said, it also wouldn't surprise me if he plays one year and signs a multi-million dollar deal in the NFL.
