Seriously...he had no time to get acclimated to the system when he came in. If he can play here the way he played at Mt. SAC, then he will have a damn good shot, despite what many here think. He had better stats than Simms or Newton.

We'll just have to see.

SEC defenses are far superior to JUCO defenses.

Didn't say it wasn't...but you forget that the talent around him and the coaching staff will be equally superior. If they can resurrect Crompton's career, I wouldn't put it past them to develop him in similar fashion

There is some serious delusion in this thread.

Matt Barkley is a freak of nature and look at the effect him starting had on USC's season.

Look at the pics of him from practice. He is going to need some serious muscle on his arms before he plays. This kid is going to be good, but he better put some muscle or he will get broke in half. This kid needs a redshirt, but idk if he will get it.

have you seen Jacory Harris?

The whole point in bringing in Matt Simms is because Bray is not going to be in any way ready for a full season in the SEC. There's no way. You can't get the good weight on that he needs in 8 months. It just cannot happen.

Further, coming in and looking the way he has, he doesn't show the maturity yet to take on a SEC schedule. The guy is going to be good, but you guys that are predicting Bray starting are beyond wrong. If Bray had any chance of starting, Matt Simms would not be here.

It will be Stephens barring injury.

False...Bray has just as much chance to start as Stephens. Matt Simms is more telling of a lack of faith in Lamaison and/or Stephens than Bray. In fact a very strong argument could be made that Matt Simms being here is and indicator that the coaches DO have confidence in Bray starting this year.

Wrong. Bray has zero chance to start this year unless Stephens and Simms get hurt.

That makes no kind of sense. I would love to hear your reasoning that signing Matt Simms indicates that Bray will start. That's brilliant. Really.

Stephens will be a senior with starting experience, a year longer in this system and coached by these coaches. How you could possibly reason that a 200 lb freshman is going to beat him out, I will never understand.

These coaches have had all year to work with Stephens. Look what they did with Crompton and with less time. They like where he is, but want to push him. He will start next year unless he's hurt. You can take that to the bank.

I could maybe see Bray being mentally ready by next season, but there is no way he will be physically ready. I can't see Kiffin risking him especially with us rebuilding our Oline.

If I thought you had the ability to comprehend it i would explain it to you. If you don't understand why you don't bring a train wreck like cam newton in to lead your football team, I doubt seriously that you could ever grasp it. So, ill just say wait in see and i'll be bringing it back up when it happens.

Wow. You don't have the ability to back up your stance so you resort to personal attacks. And I'm supposed to somehow feel inferior. What a riot.

I actually possess the ability to perfectly illustrate how wrong you are. How does it feel not being able to do the same?

after seeing USC's offense get held hostage by a true freshman, I definitely would like to see Bray sit and ride out this yr with Stephens.
I have faith

Talk about delusion...go back over your comment and re-think that one.

Let's all take a moment of silence, so Sabanocchio's pilot light can be lit....

Ok, now...where were we...Oh, yeah. Matt Barkley being a freaky guy...I don't know about that. And I really DON'T want to know about that. But getting back to it being HIS fault for USC's four losses...hhhmmm....?

I seem to remember that the Trojans had their defense plundered by the NFL draft and then lost BOTH their OC and DC...to Washington, who subsequently upset them. Hhhhmmm....I wonder why?

Must be that Barkley curse thingy...? Step away from the paint can.....N-I-C-E and sssllllooooooooowwww.

Very simple...only takes 3 words to explain it.

See now, wasn't that easy?

It's going to take a lot of Pappa Johns deliveries to get there, but in the mean time, remember...Peyton the Great was a stick man as a freshman as well.

I have yet to find a single post of yours that makes sense in any rational sort of way.

USC didn't have a senior quarterback last year I'll point out. They also never had a freshman start at QB in Pete Carroll's entire history. Hmmmm...

Captain Brainiac...listen. Stephens had only 1 yr under CLK. His being a Senior doesn't help him in that regard. This is like trying to explain thermodynamics to a toddler...you and plenty others have been bashing him all season long. Now, you flip....just like you do in your gender preference.

Which is it today...guys or girls? Stephens or Bray?

ok ok ok.... How can anyone want bray to start?

Look at USC.. They had Barkley a tremendously talented QB, with a tremendously talented O-line, WR core, "stable" of RBs... and defense to back him up..

Barkley was way ahead of Bray physically and mentally and still brought one of the best teams down..

When Clausen started as a Freshman at ND... Fail...

Going from HS to SEC is a gigantic leap. If Bray starts we have serious problems at QB.

IMO Simms was brought in so Bray could redshirt. Stephens/Simms will get the start.. I think Stephens. Bray was still learning snap counts. The school he played for was not a very good college prep school.

Stephens and Kiffin have a riff, but i think it gets worked out.. Stephens has the arm and experience (1 year in the system).. He will get the start.

Concerning Bray.... "Reaves has four more chances to work on the exchange with Bray, who seems too young to even be considered a true freshman."

you are actually mislead.. Pete Carroll is still the coach at USC... He is basically the D-Coordinator, Holt never really ran the D. Think about it who would make that lateral move?

Pete Carroll has lost many coaches... this isn't the first time. He is the Belichick of College Football. Look at who our HC is..

How do you not blame Barkley for there misfortunes? 13TD/12int...

Because their D absolutely blew gorillas and the WR corps was hardly better than ours. If Barkley is throwing to the guys from the glory years, he has a different season. If the D had been even mildly respectable, they still win the conference.

Blowing gorillas, that must be some really bad D. :)
