'10 CA QB Tyler Bray (Commit/On Campus)

Tyler Bray has as much if not more upside than Blake Bell. Outperformed the likes of J Scroggins, Sims, and others at the Elite 11. The only one who did better than Bray was Heaps... Most accurate arm at of all of the QBs there

I don't think Kiffin is in the business of offering schollies to players that may or may not be D1 talent just to get a QB that many consider to be second tier at best.

you are right about kiffen not offerning scholarships to players that aren't good enough to play here, but dead wrong about bray being a 2nd tier qb. He is a top 5 qb, no question.

I would, first tier is a guy who can come in right away and win ballgames.

I believe most people would consider "first tier" an elite prospect and a second tier prospect would be one of a lesser skill set. Tyler Bray is not starving for refinement or retooling. He simply needs to add weight to his frame and learn the offense.

Tyler Bray has height, arm strength, and accuracy. His only weakness is the need to bulk up in a college strength and conditioning program. Tyler Bray has perhaps the greatest upside of any prospect in this class at any position--franchise quarterbacks aren't found everyday.

For the love of God people, how many months has it been since KIFFIN became the head coach?Learn to spell his name right, jeez.

That doesn't even make sense. Sorry... Brent Schaeffer was the only freshman quarterback to start the first game of the season for Tennessee. Or was it the SEC altogether? Might have been until Stafford. Quarterbacks don't usually come in and win games as freshman.

Carson Palmer threw 16tds 18ints as a sophomore and 13tds 12ints as a junior. Won the heisman his senior year.

Mattew Stafford threw 7tds 13ints as a freshman. Was the first pick in the NFL draft.

Vince Young was redshirt and didn't get to play until mid way through his freshman season. He split playing time with another QB the rest of the season. Won a national championship and was the first quarterback drafted.

Matt Leinart was redshirt and didn't play until he was a sophomore. Won a national championship and heisman.

I guess my idea of a first tier quarterback is very different than yours.

You all are right,I'm just a little tougher in my ratings. With that said I would love Bray to commit today because I think he will be a great player someday.

There may only be one QB that may come close to meeting that qualification in this class (Heaps). Just not the best year for this position.

With that said, if Bray can enroll early and have some time with the S & C program, we might enjoy some of that same excitement we experienced with Ainge during the first half of the 2004 season.

Bray is a good prospect. Nothing more. He will have to put the work in and he could be a great college QB. He could also never see the field. You never know for sure how these kids will adjust and if they will thrive or fail.

With all that being said. I like his attitude. All he has done is go head to head with the best at camp after camp and outpreformed alot of them. He has went out and made a name for himself. I like that.

I hope we land Bray. I think this staff has him behind some others they are still recruiting but it is funny how things work out sometimes.

Great post. Missing out on Scroggins could turn out to be a blessing in disguise if we end up landing Bray and he lives up to his massive potential. I think he will, especially with our coaches, and be our starter in his SO year. But like you said, these are 17-18yr old kids, and you never know whats going to happen.

Is there any free video of Bray? I've searched youtube and can't find anything. I'm sure there is some lurking in this thread somewhere, but I don't want to look through 1100 posts to find it.

I would rather have Bray than Scroggins. He looked really promising at the elite 11 camp and I am sure it won't be that hard for him to gain weight.

I watched some of his last yr highlights and was suprised that nobody really knew much about him before...must not have sent it out to many teams because you can see tons of potential...def a potential star with added weight...I would compare him to Ainge

I too see a lot of Ainge in him.

You are probably right that his tape simply was not sent out anywhere last year because he looks like a damn good prospect to me as well based on his junior film alone.

Bray is what tennessee needs imo. He is a winner and his weight is not that big a factor. His height is a major plus. If you look at his hands, they are so big he wraps the ball. I believe that is what gives him such good accracy. He has also a big advantage in leverage. We got to get this guy...

i still would not be surprised one bit if he ends up at SDSU

I wouldn't be surprised either to be honest...I don't think he wants to move too far away from home even tho he has said distance is not an issue...Easy to say for a 17 year old until it comes reality sets in and its time to decide.

I think after the W Kentucky game he is going to commit. Neyland will be rocking.. However, u may be right Indianavol. He may pull a Nunes and decide to stay home because of distance. You never know with recruits.
