It's either come to Knoxville & play in front of 100,00+, play on ESPN & national t.v., play in the best conference in College Football, play against the best competition in College Football, & have a real good chance to go to the NFL or go to SDSU rarely be on t.v., have a slim chance of getting to the pro's, not compete for a conference championship, & be close to home.

Why any slimmer of a chance at SDSU than UT? I don't get that. Scouting is way beyond the 20s.

I think the coaches can pitch the University a little better than him. You can look at the chance of making it to the NFL as better here due to coaching and the pro offense in place. I don't think people realize that professional football players come from all over...not just your typical 'BCS schools'

A QB making it to the NFL from SDSU is as unlikely as QBs from Miami(Ohio) and Northern Iowa starting in the Super Bowl. Never gonna happen.

In fact, digest this.

The highest profile university represented by a starting QB in the conference championships last season was the University of Syracuse.

You guys can say whatever you want, but I promise you that CLK and Chaney will prepare Bray better for the NFL than whoever is at SDSU. Big Ben and Kurt Warner have nothing to do with anything.

I really like Bray. I think he will be a great college QB, wherever he goes. He could be good in our system. I just don't think that he's the right guy for us. He's not ready to start, which is what we desperately need. He would need a year to redshirt and probably sit out a year to bulk up, and will need work. I think a guy like Heaps, Scroggins, or even Rettig would be much better for us. Again this is not a knock on Bray, but I just don't think he'll be ready early enough to make an impact when we need him. JMO

He should be able to bulk up and learn the system while in his red shirt year and then be ready to compete as a frosh. I don't think Rettig would come in a start as a frosh without a red shirt year IMO.

Rettig is a lot more ready to play... He'll probably start as a true freshman at Boston College. Also if we get Bray and he redshirts, he might be recruited over in the 2011 class...

Is anyone else really concerned about his speed. Ya, being a tall QB is a good thing and all. But it can have it's disadvantages in being slow and not able to escap the pocket if necessary. What do yall think ?

I'll take a good pocket passer over a good running/avg passing qb any day. we have plenty of weapons on the ground. all of our backs can catch. bray can check down if he can't escape

retting's opp to start as a true freshman speaks more about lack of competition than it does him being ready...Bray has much higher ceiling but I do agree you dont want him starting until his Sophmore year or redshirt freshman year.

BC QBs can't be much worse than ours, they might even be a little better...

jmva1, have you heard of any sleepers that have not had a lot of pub? I am still having a difficult time coming to terms with the fact that BC has a better QB situation than UT does.

I've always been high on Chase Rettig. Had he not committed to BC he would probably end up with several offers. There's no real sleepers at this point that people don't know about. Scroggins was a sleeper until everybody found out about him. A guy like Brett Nottingham was a decent sleeper and is now committed to UCLA. At this point, someone would really have to come out of nowhere and have an amazing senior season to really be considered by UT's staff.

Thanks. That is what I was afraid of.

I know its a little old but I watched the elite 11 camp on ESPN U and thought bray looked to be in the top three there. He won the accuracy award and has a good arm and decent release. And his height is what we want. Just need him and a great line cause he is not that mobile but who cares if you have a running game and good line.

Concord, there are a few guys. Jeremy Cannon (of Concord, NC) would have more offers if not for an ACL injury which sidelined him for all of last season. Then there's 2 guys in California that I read about a couple weeks ago.

Most of these guys sat behind Div. 1 prospects last season and now that those guys have graduated, they are getting a chance to show their stuff.
