Who really cares what his 40 time is? Straight-line speed is one of the least important attributes for a QB in a pro-style offense.

My question is what made him commit to SDSU in the first place?

Second question is can he compete at an SEC level?

Third question is distance going to be a factor like it has been with everybody else?

He said he would listen to anybody who shows interest in him. His SDSU commitment is far from solid.

yeah, I don't really care either...i just thought it was odd that Scout called him a good athlete...

I'm surprised that he isnt a Fresno St. commit. Kingsburg is just south of Fresno, north of Bakersfield (my wife is from from Bakersfield). Fresno St. usually gets most of the good kids from that area (the ones that USC dont cherry pick).

Here's the answer to #1. He was forced into making a quick decision. SDSU and Fresno were the only offers he had at the time and his stock was just starting to rise cuz he didn't attend any Spring camps. It seems he thought he might get left behind without having another offer:

"They said it was between me and another quarterback, and they gave me a deadline," Bray said. "They wanted me to make a decision."

To answer #2, you have to ask yourself your opinion of Montana, Bell, Sims, Scroggins, Hinder, and Brunetti because, by all accounts, he outperformed them this week at the Elite 11 and did just about as good as Heaps. You don't get invited to the Elite 11 and be a scrub. Bray isn't like Rettig and been around forever. He didn't start going to camps until the summer...

As for #3, I have no clue...

I agree this kid has pretty much gone unnoticed, mostly due to a lack of exposure. He is obviously pretty good to get the golden gun award for accuracy two days in a row at the Elite 11 camp. He was also impressive at USC's camp. Thing is, has UT even spoke with him? It doesn't matter how good he is if UT has not shown him interest. Are we even recruiting this kid?

Hubbs and Rob Lewis both said that they expect the staff to start making contact with him after Scroggins' decision today...

I know what you're saying but I don't think that us not showing interest before will factor into his recruitment...

You talk about a kid coming out of nowhere...nobody was talking about him at all before this summer...now he's one of the hottest commodities out there as far as QB's are concerned

If the coaches already know about Scroggins (they were told on Monday) then why wait to contact him. They should have been all over him right after they hung up the phone.

Brent stated on TOS that the UT coaches will definitely reach out to Bray and gauge his interest......if there is any there. We better hurry and offer this kid, or we will get Rettig'ed again. His stock is gonna ROCKET up....he has already been moved to a 4-star on Rivals and ranked higher than Montana. This kids emergence is exactly what I was talking about when I said not getting Scroggins wasnt near as big a deal as most on here seem to think. We (UT) just have to be quick on the trigger and offer tha damn kid, instead of dragging out feet.

I agree Hens. There is no way around it. He outperformed Hinder, Montana, Brunetti, and even our savior Scroggins. He probably outdid Bell and Sims as well. The only one on par with Bray was Heaps...

And if it makes any difference, in the new Rivals rankings, Bray jumped from a 0star to a 4star and the #14 PS-QB in the nation. That Rettig guy only jumped from a 0star to a 3star and the #29 PS-QB in the nation. Just saying...

well, Scout has given their top 5 and none of the big names (Sims, Bell, Scroggins) stood out. Not sure why Sims didn't do well but Bell obviously didn't do well because he is still raw and gets most of his high rating from his atheleticism. For Scroggins, I read of a grip problem that Scroggins had at the camp (ESPN article).

With Bray being THAT impressive against the best of the best in the nation....our staff would be IDIOTS not to offer. Also, looks like you Huskies got yourselves a QB in the mold of his Dad....PLEASE smash Scroggins and the Trojans for us ( one of your guys may have to make a hit on him back near the bench though, cause thats as close to the field he will ever get there).

He is only a soft verbal to San Diego State. At 6-6 with a 4 star rating... the staff should go after him hard. He is from California and San Diego is really nice but SDST doesn't compare to Tennessee and the SEC.

he is going to get more offers now...count on it.

he will not go to san diego state...

but, i think we need to offer quick, and that just doesn't seem like Kiffin's m.o.

Yeah but that was when all of the top quarterbacks were still on the board. Now that all of them are off the board, he doesn't have much choice. I expect him to offer. Cregg supposably said that they have a surprise. Maybe it's Bray. Hopefully it is.... I believe Cregg who was the one that said this and having been on the Oakland Raider staff it could very well be Bray. That's just me being very optimistic.
