'10 CA QB Tyler Bray (Commit/On Campus)

The other QBs had better offers than San Diego State.

:lolabove:

To be fair, I don't know that I would call Boston College a better offer.

Maybe not BYU either but they are ranked at the moment so that's understandable. The whole Boston College thing though... whatever. I'm not a fan of anyone who would voluntarily go to Boston. The city, not the college. :p

BC and BYU have had a history of putting QBs in the NFL.

Would hope he is solid.

Best conference in the country. Check.
One of the largest stadiums in the country. Check
Pro Style offense. Check
4* 6-6 Wide Receiver. Check.
4* 6-2 Wide Receiver. Check.
4* 6-6 Tight End. Check.

That's assuming Delvin plays tight end. Throw in Cobbs and what more could you ask for? If quarterbacks don't want to play with all that, then they should quit football and play with themselves. What up.

thats why we have QBS beating down the door right now to play here.. All im saying is what if we are not as productive as we all hoped and he does pick up some more big offers.. We are talking about high school kids

The cards were never in our favor to get Heaps or Scroggins. One was Mormon. The other lived 20 minutes from USC...

Those are the only 2 we ever went hard after before Bray. Hendrix tried to commit in the Spring, but we wouldn't accept it. The staff was never sold on Rettig and never really went after him...

Boston College has a new head coach after firing Jagadzinski for interviewing with the Jets. The defensive coordinator took over as head coach and the offensive coordinator left. So really, Rettig isn't working with anybody who was a part of Matt Ryan's success. Except maybe the quarterback coach. I am sure the quarterback coach would struggle to produce another Matt Ryan with out the head coach and the offensive coordinators play calling though. The entire coaching staff who worked with Matt Hasselback was already gone. And the only quarterback Mendenhall has put in the NFL is John Beck.

I guess if I'm a quarterback I'd rather learn under Kiffin and Chaney. They've worked with Brees, Palmer, Leinart, Cassell, Orton, and Booty. That's far more impressive than working with John Beck.

Bell, Heaps, Scroggins, Rettig, Hendrix etc. had all committed before Ambles, Milton and Jones committed to Tennessee. Had Tennessee had those three locked up prior, they may have been able to land somebody by now. Those guys are all solid so that's why they aren't beating the door down. Tennessee has a really good shot at Bray right now with all of those weapons.

Yes you are correct sir.. But if he commits a week after he visits do you think he will be solid or open for offers.. Because im pretty sure he will get them and if he does before he commits to us(if he does) then it may take a lil longer.?.?.?

He told the VQ staff that he is planning to enroll in college in January. He even told them all the classes he was having to take so he could graduate early. In the past week, he's also said that after his performance at the Elite 11, he was certain more schools would start contacting him and offering him. But he said that hasn't been the case. The only school he has been talking to lately has been the Vols. He hasn't even been talking to SDSU. It doesn't look like anyone else is howing interest in him. Heres a few quotes from the ESPN story a few days ago:

"Tennessee has been recruiting me very hard ever since the camp," Bray said. "I thought a few other schools might get involved as well but it has just been Tennessee and I'm really looking forward to this visit."

Bray said he still considers himself committed to San Diego State, but hasn't had a chance to talk with the Aztec coaches much lately.

"I've been really busy with school and practice so I haven't had a chance to talk with any coaches in awhile," Bray said.

"I'm just going to take this visit to Tennessee and then sort things out after I get home. I'm still figuring some things out about both of these schools but I could make a final decision shortly after I get back this weekend."

With him graduating in December and since all the schools out west already have their QBs, I am confident we will be able to hold on to him...

If he does indeed enroll early I wouldn't be surprised if started as a true freshman...

Let's hope not. Odds are if he is starting as a freshman it's because Stephens is really bad. Hopefully Stephens will have the system down and can have a solid senior season. That or hopefully it's because Bray just looks really awesome. If Bray was starting purely because Stephens stinks... pry not going to be a good season.

The staff knows what they're doing, they will only start him if he is ready play. Its mainly up to him, not the staff. He comes in and competes, works hard, and impress there is a good chance he will start. Enrolling early is big.

This assuming he even commits here.

I'm with jmva. I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting. Next year may be a rough year regardless of who the QB is. An extra year under Bray's belt would give him alot of experience for the future. No matter who the QB is, we are going to run Bryce, Oku, Poole, and (Dyer, Clements, Keon, Bernard) to death next year. The QB will only have to be a manager of the game instead of trying to win it...

True that. Crossing my fingers. If we can't even get him to come here over San Diego State then we may be f'ed in the a.

That's assuming the line holds up and opens up holes. I am sure they will but you never know. It's easier to throw with a shaky line than run. I'm just holding out hope that Stephens can have a good senior campaign. The same way I'm holding out hope that Crompton will. I haven't given up on either one now that there is a new offense in place. Last years system was just.... :pukeb:

He's going to make his decision shortly after visiting UT, right? So why would anyone think that after seeing the gameday atmosphere in Knoxville he would still want to go to SDSU? I know distance may be a factor, but come on. If he is serious about playing big time football at a big time program this one's over. Score one for us. Bray to Nuke/Teague/Ambles/Milton for six!

I suppose it's possible that playing at Neyland and having to satisfy that many fans could be intimidating. Playing in the SEC could also be intimidating. At San Diego State it would be more relaxed and it would be easier to pad his stats. You're right though, if he is serious about football.... there is no debate.

Tyler wants to meet both coaching staffs. He has already met SD St staff and he liked them a lot. He thinks he will like the staff at UT as well. He is graduating early. He will be ready to play as a freshman at either school. He is very mature mentally for a 17 year old kid and he has ice in his veins. Loves preasure. Just a note from a Kingsburg faithful.

Thanks. Keep us posted.

May have been posted already and could be old news, I'm not sure - I don't get to follow this as much as other VN faithful.

Bray's listed as #6 on Rivals' top Pro Style QB's now. Heaps, Sims, Scroggins are 1,2, and 3. Looks as though Tyler is gaining ground fast.

His elite11 performance helped.

A summary from TOS from his interview on the sports animal this morning.

He said he's 200 lbs.....gained 10 lbs in the past few months.

Would like to be 225 as college FR.

Distance has NO factor. Says his family is ready to move whereever he goes.

Self-evaluation --- strong/accurate arm, good footwork.

Fave QB is Manning.

Says he feels Kiffin is great coach with NFL experience.

Reaves is his primary recruiter.

Looking forward to seeing UT atmosphere.

Believes SEC is best conference in america.

Told his coaches theres a chance he may commit this weekend if things go right.

Never camped until this Summer......thinks that is how he may have flown under the radar.

Sounds like if all goes well, we will have our QB.
