Bray is going to be fine at qb and I very much expect him to come in and compete for the starting job as a freshman. Just because the kid needs to add 20 pds or so doesn't make him a "project". He has plenty of time to do that. A lot of kids get their height spurt before they fill out. It doesn't effect his decision making or ability to complete a pass. We will take an '11 qb or two because we need more at the position but bray will be our qb of the future.
You hit this one right on. I agree with this 100%.
I don't know why people are worrying about his weight. If he comes in early he can easily put on 20+ pounds. Our S&C program will do wonders for him.
Because we have 4 seniors on the OL. And Unless we get some early enrolees who play beyond their years the qb, whoever it is, is going to take some licks.
It's ridiculous to say that a 6'6 215 pd qb can't take a hit. The only reason anybody would make such an argument is if they are one of these newton lovers who don't get why you don't bring in a train wreck like him when you are building a championship football team. I'm not saying that bray will for sure win the starting job as a freshman but he will compete for it and has a good shot. newton will never put on a vol uniform and for good reason.

Gomer, it's not ridiculous to say that with an inexperienced OL blocking for an inexperienced true freshman qb he doesn't stand a good chance of being injured irregardless of his size.
And if he does get injured who's left?

If it's next year, Stephens. The year after that, Lamaison or another freshman.
I'm not convinced Bray will start game 1 next year. Maybe at some point in the season but I wouldn't be surprised if Stephens will start. He would be in his second year with the system. To be honest, I wouldn't be surprised if Lamaison is given a shot to win the job. It seems unlikely he would win it but I'm thinking a freshman quarterback is the last thing the staff would want to put on the field. If Bray's the best next year, then I guess they have no choice though.
yes, discussing the weight issue is a joke. I want him to be able to play well at the qb position. Also, I stated this before, as I used to be 6'8 190lbs at that age. Now I am 6'8 about 260lbs.

No more likely than any other qb, timmy. now run along...we are having a grown up discussion here.
"Tennessee did not offer me anything more than San Diego State, but I just felt right there because it felt like home," Bray said, who attended Tennessee's victory over Western Kentucky Sept. 5. "It was a warm atmosphere, the fans are great and were yelling at me everywhere I went, so I felt welcome."
