Volquest poster says Jones was in a fight at school today and was supended for 10 days. I don't know if this is true or not. Just thought I would share....

Man I just about had a heart attack, I hit refresh and forgot I was looking at the Delvin Jones thread. I thought you were talking about G. Jones....now breath...slowly....

Just what we need more of at UT. Surprised to hear so many UT fans acceptant of this. At least Jac expressed regret (as I understand it, at least).

We need to drop this idiot. Anyone immature enough to get into a fight, while in the middle of their recruitment.....the talk about it on a public networking site is WAY too immature for big time football at UT. I hope the staff learned their lesson with Nuke. With Delvin's previous dumb comments (like Nebraska having a great defense) and this incident, I think we should steer well clear.

A bit harsh wouldn't ya say! A kid getting into a fight does not make him an idiot....kids do make mistakes, but guess you didn't make any.

By the way...Nebraska does have a very good defense.

Believe it or not fights happen, on the practice field, in real games. I suppose we're supposed to drop those idiots as well? These are 18 yo kids, if you're expecting all of them to be polished and mature I suggest you change your fanhood to a more high brow program like Duke or Vandy perhaps Yale would tickle your fancy.

A kid getting into a fight isn't the issue for me. It's what he's saying on Fbk. I have no clue what he's saying but LV indicated beat the other kid up b/c of what he's posting on Facebook. Obviously if he's on fb bragging about beating up the kid after being expelled 10 days (which is an indicator about the incident too) than he's got some character issues, imo. I stand by that opinion. And lol at the ppl comparing this fighting situation to Jac (who expressed remorse--an important thing).

FTR, I got in a couple fights in high school and would to this day if I have to defend myself. Unless this kid is defending himself or standing up for something than it's kinda a different matter. All I'm going off of are a supposed 10-day suspension and Facebook bragging. Those two details, if true, paint a pretty clear picture for me, however.

So, do you know or has it been said that he wasn't defending himself?? As in the case of what just happened, let's see the facts before we pass judgment.

What the hell, high students make mistakes all the time. What makes him different from the nerd who goes to notre dame. You dont tell character by a one time incident. Spend time with Delvin Jones and get to know about him.

Agreed. Fair enough. We'll let the details unfold. Suspending a kid for 10 days is pretty tale-tell sign though but I'll not post anything else on this matter until details come out. Obviously, the last two weeks of issues and, in particular, yesterday's armed robbery have me on edge. UT is very much a part of me and always has been (went there and grew up 30 minutes away from campus) and so it's more important to me than talented athletes and a rising football team.

And to the guy posting above: Actions speak louder than words. You don't have to "know" a person by talking to him to know a person. We'll see how the details unfold and I'll trust the staff to make the right decision.

im sure the other guy was expelled the same amount of days...people fight in high school all the time...especially in that area when people want to test people that have something they don't...im sure 80% of the people on this board have fought someone

Actions are useless without knowing the situation. Some chick could of hit a guy, but we wouldn't know that he was cheating. Stories can be told a lot of ways, and in different perceptions to make a person look good or bad. I am sure Lane and his staff are getting the perceptions they need of the situations the players/prospects encounter.

Some schools have very harsh punishment for fighting. I know at my school anyone involved in a fight got suspended didn't matter if you started it or not could be the same at that school.
