'10 DE Delvin Jones

i was an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force, in Okinawa. you almost have to try, to not have cool stories! alot of crazy stuf to see aircraft wise, too. like a C-5 taking off the runway..

Well, I am being medically separated in a month after 11 yrs, so the AF is not on my Christmas list now and will not be ever again.

Back on topic, Go Vols

Funny though the two kids you hear about visiting other places are Meline and Jones and both have some grade issues. I hope we land both but it does make you wonder....

I was referring to this. Sorry should have "quoted".

Any word on if Delvin is likely to qualify....makes me worry a bit since we added Ken Adams to the fold.

Adams has no effect on Jones whatsoever. One is a junior and the other is going to be a freshman and we only have 1 TE on the roster after next year. They needed mutiple TE's in this class.

I reallllyyy want Jones
he is extrememly athletic with loads of Potential
he has the same body type as Florida's TE that killed us a couple years ago, i cant remember his name

Good to hear. I was just a little worried that the staff might be trying to grab another TE cause they didnt think Jones was going to make it in.

I still think if we keep this guy he ultimately ends up at DE. I guess I'm in the minority with that opinion, though...

I am starting to think that this guy will get first shot at WR and see how that goes but prolly ends up at tight end. He reminds me alot of fred davis who was recruited as a WR and was moved to tight end

Per Rivals:

"I'm going to try to take my visits when my season ends. I most likely have two more games left. I think that I'll take official visits to Arkansas probably; maybe to LSU and Alabama; and to Ole Miss and Tennessee too.

"I'm still thinking about visiting Nebraska too, but I'll probably go there on an unofficial visit. I'll have to see how my official visits go."

Of the handful of SEC schools he's still considering, as well as Nebraska, Jones said that he has some early impressions.

"I'd have to say that I have the best relationship with coach (Eddie) Gran from Tennessee and coach (Chris) Vaughn from Ole Miss.

"I'd say that Arkansas and Ole Miss probably have the defenses I'd best fit into. The defenses I've been most impressed with are Arkansas' and Nebraska's because they're real physical on the line of scrimmage."

Also...

Jones is listed as an athlete by Rivals, and he doesn't care which position he plays on the collegiate level.

"Most likely, I'll be playing on defense, but it really doesn't matter to me. I'm just looking for early playing time. That's the most important thing to me -- to get on the field. I hope to have a final decision by signing day."

Impressed by Arkansas defense ... no comment

Im guessing he doesnt like the versatility of our Defensive Ends and the fact they do their share of Zone drops....

hmmmm, interesting. I guess hes a real soft verbal, I thought he was a little more solid than that, even with all the rumors that he might not make it to Tennessee in the end. Thanks for the update Tclowers.
