'10 FL ATH Matt Elam

Yes, we did, but I have my own opinion. I agree on Shaw, and Powell may be a silent, but it's not over yet. You could be right, and I never said he wouldn't end up there, just that I think it's a lot closer than you guys do.

Your logic makes sense, but sometimes recruits do not make the logical decision.

As far as playing time being the reason we are recruiting so well, it is "A" reason but not the reason. (I know you didn't say that -- it was inferred) We are recruiting well at positions we are loaded at too. And we will continue to recruit well, when we have championships to sell instead of playing time.

Bummmh...Wrong...I consciously said what I did because I know you have a staff full of great recruiters, but the ability to sell early PT is a big drawing point for many recruits. I know you know how important early PT is to many kids and most of the top blue-chip recruits.

Shaw I think you get. Riley is going to USC. Powell is going to be a closer fight than you guys think. It's a joke that you guys think you'll land Jefferson. I think you have a better shot at Stills. Good luck.
Jefferson is a Fla kid that started looking around becasue his parents are moving back to the state. We offered early then backed off because of Matt but Tony was open to the idea of moving to OLB thats why he's got the FSU visit. He wanted a UF official before OK, Mich but Meyer has been on egg shells because of Matt visits. If you check your sources Tony called gators, staff was set at safety already but he is a gamer and if Matt leaves or Hicks not panning out he can fill different roles.

My apologies then. You are certainly not wrong, but a surprising amount of kids do not want to play as a true freshman. We've had players that went on to be very, very good for us want to redshirt their first year. Look at the position everyone that walks into USC is getting into. Florida is similar especially in the secondary.

BTW, did you ever hear that you guys told Elam that you wouldn't accept any other safety commits besides his? That's what I was told.

did it ever stop Spurrier? no...so stop talking out of your butt

Spurrier put up W's in the SEC.........and proved to be a winner, leading Florida to the top in the East, and lead the program to be the envy of all other SEC schools. Iam a die hard Gator....but I can sure tell you that I didn't like Spurrier being as cocky and arrogant as he was....(except the Citrus Bowl one) JK! Looking forward to the Showdown in the East again, next year in Neyland. Go SEC!

I know all that, but Elam >>>> Tony Jefferson, thus it's laughable that you even mention him, to me. I see what you are saying and I agree that he is a second option which, honestly Meyer needs to have, but he would never share space on the same commit list as Matt Elam.

There is always the exceptions and I want the kids that want to come in a take someones job instead of being handed a starting spot.

I have not heard that exactly, but we won't take anymore S. We are tiptoeing around bringing in Tony Jefferson on a visit because we TRULY want him at WLB, but most sites project him at S. I know for a fact Kiffin as well as other coaches will be quick to point that fact out to Elam.

I wouldn't read anything into if we let Jefferson visit because Im sure UM is keeping Elam informed on what is going on. Elam does seem to be dictating recruiting and I thinks its redic it is happening that way. Matt Elam is unique I will say that.

I know all that, but Elam >>>> Tony Jefferson

You and I know that, but does Matt? Thats all that really matters. Its what Matt thinks about the situation and he may feel threatened by TJ...

What sad is Matt is so damn good he has nothing to worry about, but his attitude doesn't reflect that.

Makes sense.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why Elam is threatened by anyone. He has incredible physical gifts that will let him see the field early on special teams and probably starting by sophomore year.

Funny things is UF really has only one true safety coming in. Dowling has expressed to coaches that he wants the ball in his hands. Haden may play safety but he could end up a OLB or on offense and I think the staff is at the point with Dorsey that if he wants to be at UT or WVU then will trade that spot for someone else. He looks like he's headed for juco because of grades so I'm not to clear what Matt is worried about because Meyer has kept his word, Tony only got the visit after OLB option came into play. Matt is a GREAT talent but at this point Meyer should finish the class with players that truly want to work and compete.

His family wanted him to take the tOSU visit even before WVU and UT but the UGA visit has come at a total shock. It was rumored that he was going up with Luc maybe to swing him back UF way but word out of the Swamp is Jeff will be at the Vandy game this weekend. I just think it has something to do with the Jefferson, Riley and Shaw rumors. Meyer has been trying to sell him on Jefferson coming in as OLB if Hicks didn't pan out despite most school seeing him as a SS.

Jeff will be on campus this week as will Matt...He is bringing his little cousin up for the game.

Fulton, Shaw, Luc and Elam is a pretty solid visit list...Im sure there are more.

Not sure if this has been mentioned here but Jefferson is not coming to visit UF. He indicated that UF pretty much stopped talking to him a week ago.

Are you sure? I guess Meyer may have to learn another "Nuke lesson" by risking depth and productions because of one player but I read somewhere that his visit is still on. I love Matt's talent but not this much. BRING on Tony and the Cali recruits.. don't understand why Meyer doesn't see the picture. He made waves at BTW with Trail and Dunbar.... IMO getting any kids of out LA is HUGE but getting GOOD ones is almost impossible. Never understand our "ball coach"

What are you referring to here? Didn't quite follow...

Elam didn't like the fact that we were talking about bringing in Jefferson on a visit, so we supposedly stopped recruiting him...Im not hearing we stopped, but Elam's attitude toward Jefferson is a reason we aren't recruiting him harder.

I don't either. But I understand the results and have a hunch he's appproaching this the smart way.

Sab still don't know what your talking about. I have lived in this thread and any thread involving Elam at TOS. just curious why you said simply Elam after .....

"Not sure if this has been mentioned here but Jefferson is not coming to visit UF. He indicated that UF pretty much stopped talking to him a week ago."

I thought at first might have been something simple I missed such as you quoted the wrong post or something. I don't post all the time, but I do get on this site ALL THE TIME and am addicted to recruiting. I just have no insider info and have no reason to speculate stuff and thats why I don't post a lot. However, saying that, thanks for all the info your bringing to he board. I really enjoy reading it.....

lol at the gators coming from everywhere. hahahaha I love it...

Why does it fascinate you so much...? This site has great info on a lot of prospects we are going head to head for. I see nothing wrong with getting the two sides to every story.

I was all over Tigerdroppings last year for their side on the prospects we were going head to head for. You can never get enough info.

Am I scared of LSU...Nope. Am I scared of UT...Nope.

We have Urban Meyer who is a good enough coach to win 2 our of the last 3 MNC and as his team #1 overall this year. Will you guys beat us within the next year or two...Probably but thats SEC football and thats why its the best conference in the nation. The best players, coaches and fans.

Getting info on UF targets hardly means Im scared...but assume away. :good!:

More gators than Vols... We're going to have to hold them at gunpoint, kick them out and reclaim this thread... :)

They really want to switch their commitment to the University of TENNESSEE, but we wouldn't let them. Volnation has that effect on the OP.
