'10 FL DE Corey Lemonier

monte's D is predicated on speed. once these guys get in the training program they will have them playing both sides

monte's D is predicated on speed.

Off-Topic but I thought it wasn't? At least that is what you said in the Jeff Luc thread. Luc is like a big/physical Big-10 type of LB...someone that really struggles in space but can really plug the holes and the middle of a running game. You guys said that Luc is a perfect fit for Monte's system.

It isn't ludicrous to think one of the D end recruits could occasionally play LB. The staff has said all along that they recruit athletes and those who work the hardest will see the field. Imagine the havoc that Jac could cause from an OLB position. The tailback could easily be reduced to a speed bump. Holla.

Look you are a Florida guy, lots of fun stuff to read about Monte and the Tampa 2.

I posted about speed, a few disagreed and said we were going bigger with Thompson like AL and they were wrong as I pointed out when after our disagreement Thompson did an interview where he stated that he was going smaller and faster under Monte at LB than he did at AL.

That said, smaller and faster is not necessary if you can go bigger and faster. Luc, Christian Jones and Corey Nelson would be absurd....even if we get two out of the three which I think is very possible, Monte will be stunting and blitzing and hurting Brantleys feelings in 10 short months.

Luc is 100X faster and quicker than Nick Reviez and he played really well before his injury.

luc has game speed and you'd be hard pressed to find another linebacker in this class with his type of play recognition and lateral quickness. simply put, luc plays fast.

I don't really know about Reviez but Luc is not a very fast LB and he really isn't that quick. He is very good and I want him at UF but he isn't a great athlete. I always felt that he would be a perfect fit in Alabama's scheme (or anyone else that runs a 3-4) because he can be the big/physical MLB that is needed. Luc just can't make the sideline to sideline plays so if you can get some OLB's that can fly around then that would be perfect. Maybe if you had some OLB's like Jelani Jenkins and Jon Bostic...:)

But if Luc goes to UT I am positive that Monte can put him in good spots, regardless of his speed and athletic ability. The kid is as strong as an ox.

Reveiz is a 5'8 220 lb walk on that was having a great year until he was injured. Luc will be in great hands with CMK.

All 3 are probably weakside

Willis would be strongside if he doesn't grow into a DT. Copeland would be strongside if not DT

I think Lemonier is probably better suited for strong-side actually. That is JMO though.

I dont see Copeland being a DT. He just doesn't have the frame from what I saw of him at camp over the summer. Willis could be a DT or SSDE. He has a build very similar to what Shaun Ellis had out of HS.

Barry Every of Rivals doesn't think Lemonier has the frame for SSDE:

On the Hoof: He has excellent height and is muscular - yet very lean - meaning very little body fat on his current frame. Shoulders are not overly wide, thus his ability to gain enough weight to ever play strong side is limited. He does have very long arms and can reach out and tackle someone from a distance.
Needs Improvement: Lemonier must stay lower off the ball and not stand up right away, exposing his body to blockers. He will also need to add at least 20 pounds to be effective versus the run at the next level.
Most Impressive: I don't care what 40-time he ran at a camp, he has very good football speed and is a serious pass-rushing threat. Lemonier also has excellent lateral movement and can run sideline to sideline in pursuit.
Conclusion: Most likely a redshirt candidate until he gains needed weight unless he goes into a situation where the depth chart is limited. I expect him to be a two-to-three year starter with NFL potential.

"I leave for Tennessee on Friday," Lemonier said. "I am looking forward to getting up there and having a fun time. Calvin is going as well. Coach (Eddie) Gran is recruiting me and it seems like I have a real good relationship with those coaches."

Lemonier, from Hialeah in south Florida, has already officially visited Florida State (9-4) and Illinois (10-2).

"Florida State is still on the top of my board. I talk with them each week and I am just listening at this point. Of course I am waiting to see what happens with the coaches and the moves they make.
