Casselberry (Fla.) Lake Howell linebacker Christian Jones may be visiting Notre Dame this weekend, but it appears Miami and Tennessee have the best shot at pulling him away from Florida State, his long-time leader. Jones has a strong relationship with Miami recruiting coach Aubrey Hill, and he is enamored with Vols defensive coordinator Monte Kiffin. Tennessee could be tough to beat if Jones takes his official visit there when the Vols play host to South Carolina, but right now, Miami could be his leader.
jmva, LV, Sab, el virtuoso, the expert, etc,
Not to be debbie downer but if Christian Jones ends up a DE instead of a LB I am less enthusiastic about him. Let's say Corey Miller and Jacques Smith are our two known DEs (w/ Willis and Copeland moving to DT, which isn't a certainty). We're still after Bruce Irvin (he won't be a LB and knows it), Corey Lemonier (I hope), and Chris Martin (who I really want), among others. There's also a few tweener backers we're in on that could be moved to DE ala Chris Walker--Christian Jones being a primary example. My point is this: we need LBs in this class and right now we have Michael Taylor. I see Ralph Williams going to Ole Miss at this point. Who does that leave? Luc we're rumored to lead but that's not certain yet. Furthermore, Shirley, Owens, Mosley and a few others seem like long-shots at the current moment. We need LBs!! Not LBs who are better suited for DE (and I only say that b/c of the naturally-suited DEs we have committed and are still in on). So if Christian Jones is not going to be a LB part of his appeal is gone for me, expected 5-star status or not.
Is it widely thought by gurus and, more importantly, the coaching staff that Jones will end up at DE??? If so, I'm not saying I don't want him but I'd prefer Lemonier or Martin or even Irvin over him if he's just going to be moved to DE...
Feb 3rd.This would be huge...the possibilities for this class are endless...this is going to fun to watch shape up.
I think I am going to go ahead and take off work National Signing day...what is the date this year?
Definitely.
He's a rich man's Chris Walker IMO and that's no slight to Walker, just a testament to how physically gifted and how much potential Jones has.
Feb 3rd.
Chris Walker is a rich man's Chris Walker IMO. Not many DEs in the SEC I would trade him for. Maybe Carlos Dunlap and that's about it.
Dunalp is good, but i think he takes too many plays off and vastly under produces. I would still take C-Walk over him any day. If you look at Dunlap and Cunningham, for how good their "skill set" is suppose to be, the don't really produce a whole lot. UF doesn't have much of a pass rush.

I understand your skepticism but there's a reason why he's probably the #2 defensive guy left on the staff's board (behind Luc).
As of right now, I think we end up with one of Jones and Bruce Irvin, and that both will end up being DL, barring some drastic. There's also a very good chance that we land Luc, and even if we drop Williams (which I still don't think will happen) Taylor is a great LB. Also, don't forget that Jerod Askew looks to be getting a redshirt, Greg King is a will be a stud, and (hopefully) Reveiz will get a medical redshirt which would grant him two more years of eligibility left.
Obviously, if there's a glaring need at LB (which I don't think there is right now), and Jones does end up being a Vol, he can play LB. Same can be said for Jacques Smith IMO.
I think it's widely known that Jones will end up at DE. I personally think he's a better prospect than Lemonier and Irvin, and close to if not as good as Martin.
Hope that answers your questions/concern.
