'10 GA ATH Da'Rick Rogers

Hope he gets a good tutor.

Nance is a pretty smart kid. I figure if he and DR end up here, it might help DR academically. Never hurts to have a smart roommate. I have no idea about Rogers intelligence but some kids struggle in HS then do fine in college when they are challenged but actually interested in what they are doing.

You guys want to defend these kids now, but once they go to another school and it's a barrage of curse words and death threats on Saturdays. Get off your high horse.

Guys... how 'bout taking a big dose of "shut up"? We know the kids read these boards and if that's his dream then let him have it. This kid comes from a somewhat difficult background. He might well blossom as a student with the academic support that UT can provide.

Thank you for saying that...

I'm sorry, but engineering isn't hard at Tennessee.

Compared to Georgia Tech? No, it's not. Most rankings I've seen (taken with a grain of salt) it's usually listed in the Top 50. It has a good reputation in the private/corporate sphere.

No need to be smug, guy.

Okay, I just tried to post a reply saying that I apologize but it got eaten up. I'll try to edit and put it back in.

Edit:

I actually was between Georgia, Tennessee, and Georgia Tech when choosing a school to go to. Hate Georgia with a passion but they were in-state so I had to look at them. Tennessee was closest to my heart, but I had to choose Tech because you can't pass that up when it comes to academics. It's like saying if Tennessee offered you for football with Georgia Tech, you couldn't pass up Tennessee.

Didn't mean to put down Tennessee. I know that I did... and that's my fault. Want Da'Rick to choose what HE WANTS TO DO. Just don't think he'd have his nose in a book every second of the day if he were in the engineering program. Yes, maybe compared to other programs there. And yes, maybe he would have his nose in a book because of the difficulty of engineering in general.

Let's not crucify any players for wanting to do big things (such as studying engineering). The starting center for the offensive line at Tech is an aerospace engineer. And he's got over a 3.8. Pretty special.

I'm with everyone here when I say Go Vols!

Whaaa???

I roomed with one of the smartest persons I've ever come in contact with while I was @ UT ('01-'04). He was an Aerospace Engineering major and even though he graduated with an astronomical GPA (both his BS & MS), he said it was the hardest he's ever had to work, study, etc.

True story: We were on the roof of Greeve one day discussing how fast we would have to run to jump to the adjacent building's roof (we were elbow deep in two cases of brew, so I digress)--the guy wips out his notebook and calculates how fast you needed to be running and at which angle you would need to jump.

---to this day its the dumbest I've ever felt.

Sorry to hijack the thread here but I felt the need to defend my alma mater.

Engineering and Logistics are the two hardest degrees you can earn at UT. You're a moron if you don't think Engineering is hard.

That's when you say "prove it jacka$$"

I have a friend who is in engineering at Georgia Tech. He says its difficult but he also took Engineering courses at UTC and said that they were not much different. A lot of engineering is integrals and other calculus methods. Its the same content no matter where you go.

I always felt the smartest somewhere in the 3-5 beer range. I had menial results employing same-state psychosis, however.

I'm sorry again guys.. I'm not that big of a jerk. Didn't mean to make the thread into this. I will try to delete my post from earlier. We're all Tennessee family here. I was in my "elitist" mode while writing that. People at Georgia Tech think they're smarter than anyone in the southeast. Poor sense of judgement.

So here's to hoping Rodgers doesn't choose his college of choice based on school rankings for engineering!
