'10 GA DE J.C. Copeland

Copeland currently weighs 271 pounds and at that weight he could be destined for the interior of the defensive line. He doesn't care where he plays, but he even admits that defensive tackle isn't a bad spot for him.

"They have talked to me about playing a little bit of both," Copeland said. "I don't care as long as I play. I think I do both well, but I'd say I'm better at defensive tackle.
Says his bench max is 395.

Definitely one of the quieter names in this class. I really think he could turn into the best DL Tennessee has had since Henderson.

just looked at his highlight tape and although he hasnt even put the uniform on, that might not be a stretch. I didnt know he was that good. looked amazing.

OMG, just watched the vid. this kid is mean. i think he has some secret aspirations to be a RB, as much time as he spends in the backfield..

He's a little short for D line?

What say you recruitniks?

His video was phenomenal.

He has a heck of a motor

Lets say Elvis Dumervil is 5'11". JC Copeland would be able to get leverage at his shorter height. It's easier for him to get low, and drive back with muscle. The only thing wrong with being short, is less muscle potential, and not able to swat balls down.

JC Copeland - The Tennessee commit is very quick for a defensive lineman. At times today he was unblockable for the South squad. He was causing the North squad to change their cadence to offset his speed from the DT position.

Copeland had a sack and also forced a Hutson Mason fumble that was recovered for a TD.

Don't forget about Dwight Freeney he is only 6'1.

J.C. Copeland is only 5'11... he is short for any position on the DL, but he will start out at DE. In the long-term, he'll end up playing DT. DT is all about pad leverage and push with a good center of gravity, so if he keeps some of his quickness and gaines about 30lbs he should end up being a very solid DT.

Men dont stop growing until they're 24. He should be 6 foot by his junior year.
