'10 GA QB Hutson Mason

I don't remember for sure and I don't feel like reading the whole topic, but isn't this the kid with the noodle arm who runs a no huddle offense, and runs a ton of screens and checkdowns and just lets them run after the catch?

This guy is by no means a SEC qb but in his defense he is very accurate. Can make all the junk ball throws top spin it in or fade. Throw it only where his receiver can get it etc. His arm strength is below average for Div 1 thus he has no hope of being a SEC qb IMO.

In a weak county. But still a nice accomplishment.

yeah the same county that produced Jothan Dwyer @ GT, Eric Norwood @ SC and Toney Williams @ Tenn. More to remember but I cant.:cray: Cobb produces nice talent not as much as other areas of ga

Ps: I heard Alabama might be looking at him. Don't think so.

Yes, 90% of his passes are in the air for less than 10 yards down field. Lassiter plays Walton this week. Hutson will finally play against a real defense.

He has thrown for over 2300 yds with a 75% completion rate and 27 td's in just 7 games. New schools are starting to take notice as well.

What schools are you hearing from?

"Coach Campbell from Arkansas called me today also. I have to call him back tonight. Coach Thompson from Tennessee called recently and they want me to come up to the South Carolina game."

What current offers do you have now?

" Indiana, Eastern Michigan , Western Michigan, UAB, and Georgia Southern."

Per Scout...

Per Scout...

He would be a great pick up to run the scout team in a spread offense preperation week.
His numbers are VERY impressive, but I could have completed 65% of those passes he completes. He could be a Joe Cox. Fifth year starter if he improves his arm strength.

So basically a big 12 prodigy?

What is this staff doing inviting him to the S-Car game?! Don't they know he plays in a weak county, has no hope of playing for an SEC school, and obviously isn't any good because of his offer list?! Seems they're wasting their time having him come to town...

The truth...they are hoping that his offer list stays that weak and might be hoping to entice him to be an invited walk-on. Dont know if that is the case but its a possibility.

If he comes, it will make the 3rd time he has visited UT. He also came to one of the first practices back in the spring and to the Orange and White game...

Tonight will be a good test for him. They play rival Walton and the weather is bad. Lots of rain already here in East Cobb.

Tonight in a 42-28 win over Walton and their "real defense", Mason was 24-40 (60%) for 347 yards, 5 TDs, and 0 INTs. He averaged 14.5 yards per completion...

First, let me say that Lassiter played well last night. Their spread offense looks better each time I see it.
Mason is a very accurate passer if the throws are less than 10 yards. The 14.5 yard average is NOT the length of the pass. It is the total yards of the pass play. Most high school corners and linebacker can not cover these quick routes. The quick short pass and run after the catch, is 95% of their offense.

Question for you Vader.....if this kid was the GA offensive player of the year as a junior, why do you think that no big time programs have offerred him? Have you seen him play? You are great at spewing stats, and I agree that he is VERY impressive on paper.

Mason's huge numbers are a product of the offense that they run. The Universities that run the spread would be beating down his door if Lassiter's offensive success was because of him. Like I said before, he would be a good kid to have in the program to develop for the future, but he would be a Joe Cox at any SEC school that gives him a shot. I do not believe that many elite schools are looking to sign a one year starter for 5 years down the road.

The call from Thompson and offer to visit is a PR move and to stay in good with the Lassiter coach. (Like Vader pointed out, Mason has gone up to Knoxville several times already begging for attention.) The Lassiter system produced a tight end that went to Auburn last year. They have some good looking underclass recievers that my guess is Thompson is watching and trying to build a relationship with this program.

Guys,
I have nothing against this kid. He comes from a solid family. He is a kid that I would want my daughter to go out with. I have been around this kid and he is a leader.

The highlight reel is very well done. It is not hard to pull out some nice long passes from 40 to 50 passes per game that he throws.

You two "gurus" of recruiting are dead set on proving me wrong about him and that is fine. It is EASY to do with his "highlight" reel and this stats. I hope Hutson proves me wrong and is a great D-1 QB. I would love it if he was what we need to bring UT back to power. I just do not see it in the four games that I have SEEN him play.
The list of offers, after 3/4 of his senior year, is kind of backing up my thoughts here.

I wish Hutson good luck but I am done commenting on him. UNLESS he becomes a starter at an SEC or other big conerence school, then I will come back on and give him his props and admit that i was wrong.

I'm not trying to prove you wrong. I believe the same as you on why Thompson called him. You're the who said before the game that Hutson was going to finally be tested against a real defense in bad weather. He then proceeded to rip them a new one. That's all I'm saying...

and stayed up until 2 am in the morning to make sure you got that jab in.

I came back this morning and gave him his props for a great game. Walton pulled a UGA type "no show" last night and Lassiter/Mason played very well. But do not come back here and try to say that it was not to prove me wrong.

:lolabove: Calm down dude. No need to get angry. If you think I stayed up till 2am to prove you wrong on a QB who UT isn't really recruiting, you are gravely mistaken. Does that mean I stayed up till 4am Thursday night just to argue with Gator dude who was on here lol? I am on here late every night...

Late Friday nights, I try to look for a certain group of players stats that I try to keep up with every week: Bray, Darkwa, Keon, Mason, and a couple others...

LoL at this thread. There is a reason he is not getting the offers he wants and plays in a highly recruited area. He is not unnoticed. He has been very much so scouted and his arm strength is below par. He is great at everything else but still noodle arm he is. .
