'10 GA QB Hutson Mason

If he can do some stuff in the playoffs it is impressive. Grayson and n. Gwinnett will score about every posession so must mason respond. Who does he play first?

I would bet that the coaches are aware of how he has played and would probably be willing to see if how he does in the playoffs. If he comes close to winning state, he's going to turn some heads.

You would bet they are aware? There's not much that they aren't aware of and Hutson Mason hasn't exactly made himself invisible.

As far as how he does in the playoffs, why would it matter? Are they only going to offer him if he wins 3 playoff games? (Oh, sorry, Hutson, but it appears you have only won 2 playoff games so we won't be offering you a scholarship!) He's the same player now that he will be in a month.

Hutson's primary liability is his arm. It's not strong enough to play at this level. The further he throws, the less accurate he becomes. He won't get a big time offer.

Dang guys ... why are so many of you guys "dissing" this kid. He may not have a rifle arm but as I recall neither did Danny Wuerffel and he seemed to do OK not too mention winning the Heisman trophy. I've watched this kid for two years now and he's damn smart, great leader, makes few mistakes and contrary to what one poster mentioned earlier the kid throws a very accurate deep ball. He may not be the next Tennessee QB but I'll bet he does get a Div 1A scholarship and will be a starting QB before his college career is over.

All the best Hutson ... and GO VOLS !!!

Thanks for checking in Ms Mason.....tell Hutson good luck in the playoffs (and he might want to jump on the offer from Iowa before they are full)
I will be heading to Knox-vegas for the Vandy game if Hutson wants to ride with.

According to the AJC....the Iowa offer is off the table.

Congrats to Hutson, he has officially broken the GA state single season passing record. He had 445 yards last night in the first round and that gives him 3,714 for the year.
Hutson says that Miss St is "close to an offer" to go along with his offers from Indiana, Miami-Ohio, FL Atlantic and GA Southern.
Lassiter should win one or two more before they run into Mr. James and the North Gwinnett boys. That will be a great game if one of them do not slip up.

Alot of teams will be regretting not going after this guy. He has great judgement on where to go with the ball and does not make mistakes. Very nice touch on all passes and where does it say you have to have a cannon arm to be successful? Mark Sanchez, Chad Pennington, and Drew Brees dont have cannon arms but are pretty damn good. This kid is a winner.

LV i live in ga, but not very close to lassiter hs, i just looked up there schedule, and really the teams they play are all basketball schools, i saw 1 maybe 2 honorable teams on there schedule, and i see 2 teams they played in the playoffs. cenntenial got beat by north gwinnett52-21, lassiter beat them 42-35, not saying that means anything, if lassiter wins their next game they will probably end up playing stephenson, thats the team clk first flew the chopper to. If he can do well against them he could be legit, if not he could just be a product of the spread, if they were to beat stephenson and ngwinnett wins out, they would play in the state semi finals. Thanks for your input i enjoy reading your posts daily.

Hutson is in a reality show "The Ride", with seven other qb's, and they compete against each other for a spot on the army all-american bowl. Has an article about it in the ajc.com, recruiting page. Comes on tonight at 6.

Mason threw 8 TDs in a win tonight over South Gwinnett. Yea, that's right 8 TDs. He tied the GA state record for TD passes in a game. That is crazy. Dude is seriously rewriting the GA record books...

Trojans quarterback Hutson Mason tied the state record with eight touchdown passes, including four to Griffin Roelle, and threw for 530 yards as Lassiter rolled into the Class AAAAA quarterfinals with a 70-49 victory.

Mason’s yardage total was the second-highest in state history, trailing only his 545-yard performance earlier this season that broke the state record. Mason, who entered the game with a state-record 3,714 passing yards this season, became the first quarterback in Georgia history to surpass 4,000 yards in a season.

That is impressive. I have seen South play first hand. They have an elusive QB. Defense is OK not great but good. 70 on them is just wow.

Whoever signs him is going to get a helluva QB. Lassiter has never been all that good, this kid steps in and changes that.

Lassiter had a great night!
This not a bash on Hutson.
They showed four of the touchdown passes on the news last night and not one of the four were thrown over ten yards in the air. LV, you could have completed these throws.
S. Gwinnett had a tackling night about like the Vols did at Ole Miss.

By the way, did you guys see, in the article, that his head coach was the OC at Hoover in AL when they did the MTV show there.

The new head coach and the new system changed Lassiter's fortunes two years ago. Mason is in the right place at the right time and is a product of the system. He is accurate and a good leader.
A school that thinks they can develope his arm strength and wait two or three years will get a very servicable QB, ie Joe Cox type.
Not many SEC or other big time schools look that far out on a "project".

I really value Sab's opinion on QBs, but Mason's offer list is only a who's who of smaller schools. Do you think that will change now? IMO

Put it this way Billy, Tee Martin was his personal QB coach for two years. He is not even offerring him for NM.
