'10 GA WR Markeith Ambles - USC Commit

I think MA has fallen prey to the negative recruiting sales pitch. A lot of guys are buying into the NCAA crap.

That's what I am hearing too Rex. Apparently he is concerned with the recruiting scandal rumors. I'm sure the NCAA have gotten to him as well. There is no telling what kind of questions they threw at him.

For those of you that are not worried about him decommitting from UT, you do realize he is considering a 2nd visit to Ole Miss, right? Well, that will be on his dime this time, which means he is serious.

I don't think he has visited Ole Miss yet.. He's had this visit planned all along and just kept pushing it back..

Even he said I'm going to Ole Miss to use my visits. Coach Kiffin ecouraged me to do so..

His first visit was unofficial I think. This will be his official visit and Ole Miss will be footing the bill, not him. Free vacation for him.

His other visit whenever that was, was apparently unofficial. At least they don't have him listed as having visited Ole Miss, which means this one will be his official, if he goes. This could be nothing more than the media making something small out of some really large in light of UT's recent recruiting scandal rumors. I hope that's all it is.

More than likely that's what it is.. Ole Miss has always been in the backseat in his recruit but I honestly think it's more of a free trip thing.. Like I said, I will be very suprised if he switches..

Surely these recruits can smell a rat. Funny how all of this is occuring during crunch time in recruiting....I mean come on...is that all you got to try an take Kiffin down with...BoobyGate? Wow...at the very worst it's a secondary violation.

These schools, like Clemson (Karma's a biatch, by the way, you tiger fans) and USCjr...mad cause we're pillaging their state...are grasping at thin air. And these reporters, even on GVX, keep refusing to get their facts straight. They keep saying "we're being investigated."
No we aren't. There is a world of difference between a simple inquiry an a full blown investigation. They know it, they just want to make the story sound as juicy as possible, at the expense of needlessly scaring our commits.

This is why committing early doesn't make sense. I don't think we will lose Ambles, but I believe he wants a lot of attention and will go to the team that shows him the most. Remember, he only committed to the Vols after all the other teams basically dropped him. Now, after performing this season and going to the all-star game in Hawaii, he's getting more suitors since he's kept his nose clean. If we lose him, I don't necessarily consider it a big loss, but I would like to keep him because he has the potential to be great. Just remember though, so does everyone else we are recruiting. If they didn't have that potential, they wouldn't be recruited here.

I would consider it a HUGE LOSS

Tell me why. The only thing you have to base it on is potential. That's all you can right now. People making kids AA players before they ever step foot on campus is a pet peeve of mine. He will be good, I am sure, but he's not a class breaker, IMO. There is no kid that's a class breaker, because no one knows for sure who will pan out and who won't.

I would consider it a huge loss because he is a tall semi fast reciever that's good after the catch, and also one of the most disiplined route runners in this class. He also has a nack for making tough catches look easy. It's my opinion he would be a huge loss but I never said he would make or break this class. I personally like Thompkins better

He would suck if he decided not to come to UT, but losing him just opens a spot Milton, Teague, Meline, Rodgers, Jones and Thompkins would love to fill..

How about size, speed, senior year stats, high School All American status? What more does any recruit have to show than this? It would be a huge blow to this class to lose an athlete with his talent!!!

Here's the deal. I want Ambles because I think he has a chance to be an extremely gifted receiver especially with CKB. But while he is still taking visits and questioning his commitment, Thompkins and Milton are working the butts off today to become better receivers. By the time Ambles shows up on campus, Milton and Thompkins will have had 5 bowl practices (equal to half a spring camp), spring off-season workouts, spring camp and another round of off season workouts after camp. So, I would submit that Milton and Thompkins will be well ahead of Ambles by fall camp. If he signs, welcome; if not, good luck. I know I will not lose one minute of sleep if he decommits. He has an opportunity of a life time at UT, if he cannot realize that then that's his fault.

where is this coming from that we are in real danger of ambles leaving? i think this kid is pretty solid to UT and will be signing with us on nsd. thats just my opinion but this is starting to sound like the whole jeron stokes saga

Hubbs for one. Not necessarily "serious danger" but be cautious.

Good job, this is one of the best posts I've read in some time. :hi:

Except that I would feel bad if we lose Ambles, though. We need all the good playmakers (& hopefully he will be one) that we can get.
