'10 GA WR Markeith Ambles - USC Commit

If we hire who we think we are going to hire, Ambles isn't going anywhere, IMO.

Well, we have Kippy Brown, Ambles isn't going anywhere. I would say that we hear from Ambles in the next 2-3 days saying "Wide Receiver U Baby!!". :rock:

I have seen nothing to infer what so ever that he has any interest in UA. The visit might have been just to see if he had any interest since rumors are floating around about his interest in Ole Miss. I haven't read anything specific about the visit, but wasn't sure if anyone on here had any specifics from it.

I'm not much of a recruiting guru but Ambles has been one of the biggest Vol commitments and it has been said Kiffin wanted him to take his visits just to take them. With the news of Kippy Brown's hiring I honestly don't see him going any where other then UT.

If I was a recruit I would never close out any possibility and would keep every door open in case something happened at UT (major violation or horrible position coach I dont like)

I have no problem what so ever with these kids keeping doors open.

the other story of the week has been Markeith Ambles and his sudden decision to make visits including one to Ole Miss. On the surface, you would think this is more about a guy needing some attention and deciding to just go visit somewhere, but we are told that the Vols will have a real fight on their hands to hold onto Ambles.

That's a double-edged sword, though. It's coach speak for "We aren't going to be hanging all over your jock if you commit." Sounds good to kids who already have a strong independent streak anyway, but it also invites them to go on "dates" (visits) with other schools.

Personally, I'd have to go with the Mack Brown approach. "Don't tell us you're committing unless you're sure, cause we're not going to keep that slot open for you if you still have to go visit around to decide."

I think that may have been the case with DeMarco Cobbs. They jump onboard as insurance until they can find something better. Recruits can mess over a whole program by saying they are committed and then bailing late in the game...after other prospects looked past us because they saw no vacancies.

Look at Chris Simms. He chit on this program in a major way...not simply for switching....but for hogging up an open slot until it was too late to get back in with other prospects.

For this reason, I'd prefer Kiffin simply state that he prefer that they didn't just like any kind of committed relationship...and that if they still need to "date other women" then we can't accept their (soft) commitment, and will continue to recruit those that are ready to commit.

Go to Ole Miss and learn under Houston Nutt....or come to Tennessee where everyone on the stafff just about has coached in the league, Hmmm i know where i'd go. Ambles has been solid for awhile. Getting Kippy on board probably didn't hurt our chances any.

I will be Very suprised if Ambles doesn't come to UT.. I honestly wouldn't worry much..
