WOW yes in rare occasions true freshman will start on the Oline. Sorry to it but with our quality on the oline we are one of those rare occasions. UCLA is 3-0 and they BEAT US using freshman on the OLine while we have seniors. I really hope we dont fill the spots on the OLine with guys like pope and brimfield they have shown why they get no PT.

Why do you keep comparing UCLA to anyone in the SEC? Those guys started out of neccessity and they got blown up about as bad as Sullins did all day. Those guys don't have to play Alabama, Florida, LSU, Georgia, Auburn, Ole Miss, South Carolina, etc.

Just because UCLA started two true freshmen does not mean UT will have two or three guys come in and be immediate impact players on the OL. I wish but it just doesn't work that way.

I'm pretty sure Hasiak didn't start. I think Baca did.

Either way, our DL molested their OL. If we start a true freshman in the SEC, unless he's an elite elite type of guy, he's going to get dominated.

The lines, especially offensive, don't lend themselves to freshman.

well ya see it can work that way they BEAT US we are an SEC team and we can def do alot better than those two frosh on the trail. Freshman may have to be an option for us becuz either way things look like crap on the Oline next season. freshman wouldnt have to play if fulmer would have recruited the right way and recruited depth like kiffin said. This season might have to be that season no one else the SEC is in the situation were in and no after next season we wont have to start freshman but next year if it comes down to that than so be it. thats why alot of these guys like juwaun james are so interested in us cuz we have the prospect of playing early, we just dont tell these guys that for no reason

They beat us because we had **** for offense. Not because their OL was so great.

And tell me, what OL recruits could we get who could come in and compete with players like Terrence Cody, Greg Hardy, ..etc?

There aren't many in the country. Even the biggest name guys from last year aren't doing it in the SEC. Bobby Massie is a backup out of prep school and DJ Fluker is 3rd string and they were arguably the 2 best OL recruits in the country last year.

Even the guys like Kevin Revis, Schofield, ..etc will have a huge advantage on these kids because they've learned the blocked schemes for a full year, been in an elite weight training program, been getting the top notch coaching, ..etc

Good post burger.

Talented FR OLs typically provide good competition, and depth. You are normally better off, if they do not HAVE to come in and start. Sometimes it can not be helped tho.

There aren't to many seasoned OL that can compete with those guys...lol.

I think it would help 2 fold for our OL recruits to enroll in January. And Cullen would have an advantage over frosh OL...too bad he won't enroll until may.

Jose Jose EE
John Cullen JC
Morgan Moses Prep School.

Of true freshmen, TJ Leifheit, Damien Robinson and JaWuan James could play in the SEC.

It is not a good argument to say that someone cannot play because they would get blown up by Cody. So would every backup OL we have right now.

It is true as a rule that you are in trouble if you are playing freshmen OL, but it is also true that we are in a situation that is worse than most people seem to think.

We could get top quality OL in a group of 5 this year, and we will need to take 5 more next year. The depth just is not there. Hood, Brimfield?

you can't tell Lord Vader anything.... if he can't copy and paste someone else's stories and opinions off another website or message board, he doesn't believe it....

Lord Vader = Lord Paster

I like that you have your own opinion. I'm sure LV will copy and paste proof he's "right" haha... completely forgetting that NEXT YEAR hasn't happened yet, and anything (yes, even a new guy starting on O-line over the apparent OL stud Jarrod Shaw) can happen.

Jose Jose isn't going to start this year. I do think he'd get some solid reps as a backup though.
Cullen probably would, but he's also not a true freshman
Moses would probably slide in to RG, but he's not exactly a true freshman either.
The other 3 you named wouldn't start either, but they'd probably get reps as well

I wouldn't mind a lineup of something like

LT: Douglas/Schofield
LG: Shaw/Hood?
C: Pope/Revis=Jose
RG: Moses/Brimfield
RT: Cullen/Thomas

Its not great or anything, but it's decent and gives us some room to improve while still getting young guys some PT

But true freshman OL is just asking to get dominated in the SEC. The SEC is known for having amazing DLs.

Can you think of say, 5 true freshman OL to start in the SEC in the past 3 years?

Its a huge boost for everyone to get in by January, but the OL especially. The more time they get their technique down, eat right, get their correct workouts is just how much better they're gonna get. Even with that though, its just hard for them to compete with 23 year old grown men who have been majoring in football for 4 or 5 years and have just as much talent if not more as the freshman OL.

PS - He still thinks we get Hurst.... now there's a helluv an opinion haha.

Ignorant.

Please find where I said we get Hurst after he committed. I'm begging you, please find it...

All I said was Orgeron is still recruiting him hard. You can interpret that however you like...

i hear what you're saying dude i couldnt name 5 true fresh but i know that none of those schools are in the situation we are in and its bad so dont be surprised if we have some true frosh starters next year. if we get damien i think he has an awesome shot and fulton he looks down right nasty so it might happen

Although we do disagree, I believe you picked the 2 true freshmen who would have the best chance to start. Robinson is going to be a stud. He is the best HS OL prospect on our board imo. And Fulton flat out dominated every OL at the UT and Illinois camps. He will be coming in as a Guard and we have no one who stands out as a sure fire starter at RG...

If we get Moses, I do think he will start at RG though...

So Pair gone and we get Moses and Cullen and D Robinson and even JaWuan?

You think those 4 we do not have freshmen starting?

I didn't say Pair would be gone...

No, I can't see a true freshman starting, but Moses and Cullen are not true freshmen. Cullen will be coming in as a junior and Moses will be a freshmen after spending this year at Prep school. I could definitely see Cullen or Moses starting...

Anytime he adds a prospect, that's copy paste. Anytime he has facts, it's copy/paste.

I've never seen anything from his own opinion that was worth reading. Anyone can tell you what someone else says.

I enjoy thought, theories, and opinions just as much as the copy/paste info I get here. I even accept nimwit opinions. Thanks for sharing.

What the heck would his opinion be worth to recruiting? Even the guys in "the know" are just repeating what someone else has told them or they have read somewhere.

Being that all recruiting info is pretty much second-hand, I'll take a guy who is relaying facts over somebody giving his bs opinion on the percentages that we get X player.

“I really liked it a lot,” Mahoney told InsideTennessee.com. “There is so much to do. The players and the coaching staff stood out a lot to me.”

“Coach Orgeron told me that he wanted me here, this is where I belonged,” Mahoney said “He wants an answer when he comes sees me in November.”

“To see 95,000 fans in the rain was amazing to me,” Mahoney said. “They really love their football here in the South.”

“They have some of the best coaches in the country on this staff,” Mahoney said.
