'10 JUCO LB Glen Stanley

I did not say anything about not recruiting Markeith Ambles and Da'Rick Rogers. We definately need those guys no doubt. I am just concerned about UT not being able to recruit WELL the positions of need. IMO, we do not need 3 QBs in this class. Bottom line is we are getting beat on the recruiting field for LBs and DTs. How in the world we let Michael Taylor get away is beyond me. Florida is stacking up 5 star after 5 star and the kid chooses them over us. Who freakin knows at this point but i can tell you this, DT, OL, and LBs has to be our focus in 2011. No doubt about it. This class has the potential to be above average but it wont be great IMO.

Seriously,,, you cant figure out how we would have lost a recruit over the past few weeks ? I am amazed at the class we have now! Winning breeds winning, national championships equal 5 star recruits. We should be happy to be in the same discussion as Florida and Bama at this point. I agree we have to fill our needs, but dont be to disapointed when we only have three weeks to compete with other schools recruiting all year long.

Look Kiffin's staff let Taylor get away. He said mulitple times he was leaving even before the switch. DD has done one hell of a job and nobody in their right mind can argue against that. If you haven't noticed, there aren't too many elite DT's or OL left. Florida had their pick of the litter getting the best of the best, when Kiffin was here, so once again that is not DD's fault. Yes, Kiffin did have OL recruits saying they would come here, the main one being Chaz Green. This is one I wish we could have kept, but his parents listened to Kiffin bad mouth the program and wants nothing to do with us. With only 3 weeks to work with, I think DD has done an unbelievable job and the class has filled rather nicely. If Stanley gets away because he is listening to Kiffin in USC that is fine, we can find someone who wants to be here. We will end up with Stone, who was not coming here until Kiffin left, so we have 1 OL. The rest we can get next year.

Fulton, James & Pair are not offensive linemen?

So let me get this straight....We are all worried about our numbers and what recruits we can fit into this class and we can enroll 27 prospect. From what I understand, USC can only sign 17 guys this year because of the 85 scholly limit. So they only have a few spots left as well. 11 of their 14 verbals are 4* and 5* guys, not likely to be recruited over. So where are they going to put Stanley?

They are still actively recruiting OL - Seantral Henderson, Chaz Green, John Cullen, Arie Kouandjio... LB - Christian Jones, Marquis Jackson, Jordan Zumwalt.... DB - Demar Dorsey, Sean Parker, Dietrich Riley... WR - Markeith Ambles. Those are just some of the top 4* & 5* names they are still after among the other names.

So where oh where does Stanley fit in there? I say the only reason they offered him was because UT did, if he wasn't a UT commit, then they might have let him go to Cali for the trip on the university's dime (not like Kiff or O care about that)...but they prob. would not have made an acceptable offer

We finished #1 in 2005 and we all know how that class turned out. We may have the #7 class right now on rivals but if John Brown does not make it in, Glen Stanley goes to USC, J.C. Copeland switches to LSU , and Ralph Williams goes to Ole Miss, this recruiting class gets average really quick. We are NOT filling our needs positions very well. Did anybody watch the CFA bowl game? I was there. We need studs at LB, OL, and DL. STUDS! Not stretches or "well we might be able to develop him into SEC caliber" guys. Ralph Williams has kind of fallen under the radar but he is going to be a big loss on NSD if we cannot secure his signature. He is good. Who cares if we are WR U if we have no depth at the positions of need. Call me MR. Pessimistic but I am just being realistic here. If we want to be able to compete AND WIN against Florida and Alabama we have to compete with them in recruiting. And we have to be able to hold on to our elite committed prospects.
You are obviously not keeping up. We only have 15+ LB now counting our commits. It is not a huge need.

CLK and O suck...plain and simple

But, back on topic now - let me get this straight....We are all worried about our numbers and what recruits we can fit into this class and we can enroll 27 prospect. If he wasn't a UT commit, then they might have had him go out to LA for the trip on the university's dime (not like Kiff or O care about that)...but they prob. would not have made an acceptable offer. Someone needs to point this out to this confused young man.

As much as I hate to admit it, we are not in the "same discussion" as Florida or Alabama at this point (which hurts me to say). We have a descent class thus far there is no doubt but again it is all relative when you are talking about the competition we play. Yes, we have a descent class coming in. Better this year than last IMO. But what is Florida, LSU, Georgia, and Alabama bringing in? Thats the ultimate question bc those are the teams we are playing. If they are signing studs, TENNESSEE needs to be signing studs. Plain and simple. Look, I want to be optimistic but I also want to be realistic. Derek Dooley has done a great job and I think he will be successful. But that doesnt mean we should be taking players such as Dontavius Sapp, Raiques Crump, and Propst as premier guys to fill our roster. These guys are excellent back up choices in moderation but I do not agree with taking guys just to fill our roster. One place where Ed Orgeron had it right is in the concept of only taking players who can play at the level of Tennessee's competition. Remember, when you sign a player you have him for 4 years.

I am not a recruiting expert, but the timing of the visit and stanley's comments on the visit makes me feel like we may lose this guy. Hope I am wrong

LB is a huge need. I am not talking about just numbers. I am talking about quality. Ask Monte Kiffin and Lance Thompson if LB is a position of need for the 2010 Volunteers. The answer would be yes.

And our coaches disagree with you. it has been said countless times that Lance Thompson wanted to offer these kids from the begining and Kiffin said no. It is just a difference in coaching. You also have to remember that Kiffin wanted different linebackers to fit a different system. I trust Thompson and I think everyone else on here should too. They get paid the big bucks and do this for a living, not us. Btw it doesn't help a team when you can't field enough players and others leave and have injuries. Sometimes you need to have bodies. Look how thin we were last year. We need to fill this class.

The more I read his article the more I hate it and the more I HATE THAT STAFF!! I am really not liking how much he enjoyed his trip man it sounds like they totally brainwashed him.

You dont rebuild a team in one year. last years class was solid, not great, but solid. This years class as it looks now will still end up solid but also better than last years class. If next year we do the same again than in 2011 we are almost back to a whole team of 85 scholarship players who are all top SEC quality talent. Rome wasnt built in a day. We finish 10th or higher and I say CDD did an amazing job. Next year we can see what he can actually do with more than 3 weeks ... I did say 3 weeks ... let me say that again ... 3 weeks that were right before NSD and he has no DC. Did I mention 3 weeks?

to all vol fans who think like this guy:
listen guys ut is gonna be fine, we sign 3 qbs because competition is what betters players. if we just have bray and no one to push him he will never get any better. ut has a SOLID class comin in. we will be ok at o-line and d-line, i'm not gonna say we will be great but we will be ok. especially if we move to a 3-4 defense like its being rumored we will. we signed a great o-line coach and he will be able to turn anyone we have into a solid player. we need all the help we can get, so that means taking the best players at ANY position we can. it will serve for great competition and deeper roster. we will not fill our entire roster in one class, it takes time. just calm down and watch as it takes shape in front of ur very eyes. as bad as i hate to admit it, kiffin laid the ground work last year by signing ppl like brown, oku, teague, jackson, myles, hughes and etc. we add to that even more this year by bulking up our qb, wr, rb, lb and d-line and we will fill out the roster in the next 2 classes so we won't be like this year and have a ton of walk-ons playing. we are moving in the right direction, just calm down and believe in our university. we have a solid group of young linebackers with nick reveiz being the senior leader(a great player with an even better heart and work ethic and a great leader to look up to). our d-line will be led by walker and martin on the ends and hughes in the middle and evans and jackson in the secondary. we will be fine, vol nation, just have faith and trust in the decisions our coaches make. the ut faithful will be where this team is anchored....

I am to the point right now that if he really wants to be at USC more than UT then let him go. I want players who want to be Volunteers. If he believes Orgeron and Lane Kiffin and their whole load of crap USC story than by all means he needs to go.
