Kiffin said he would only recruit UT's current prospects if they announced publicly they were no longer interested in UT.
Kiffin said, for the most part, the two schools wouldn't likely be recruiting the same prospects.
guys, stars are not everything. does anyone remember chris donald? how about james green last year? if they do not have heart or the brains to even enroll into school then it honestly does not matter how many stars they have. i would rather have a 2 star with heart, brains and dedication than i would a 5 star that thinks he is the greatest player to ever live and cry when he gets chewed out by the coaches because he feels like he doesnt have to practice hard everyday. heart is what makes great players. these coaches know that. coach kiffin would have never signed a 2 star, he would've rather taken a 5 star that cant read and thinks he is on real world tv show and cries about everything. we need players with heart and players that have pride in wearing that orange jersey. we are doing a great job recruiting and i'm proud of the players we have so far. keep up the good work coach d and company! as far as you guys on here that think we need a 5 star at every position, i can tell that u are just another fair weather fan that knows nothing about what it takes to build a championship program. its ok tho, i forgive u for being incompetant, but please try not to post on national message boards so that the real UT faithful will not look so dumb in ur company. to the real ut fans, keep up the good work and great post, especially u guys that wrote the stuff above me, good posts guys!:hi:
So fans who disagree with your tunnel vision point of view are now considered "fair weathered" fans? Is that correct? HaHa! Your ignorance makes me laugh. End of story. Period the end.
I wish Stanley the best where ever he goes. Sounds like he has earned the attention. But if he will look closely at the situation, it will be clear that his best option is with the Volunteers for the obvious reasons.
oh no not at all actually. almost everyone in the entire thread has posted really great stuff. yours is the only one that i disagree with. you can believe in anything you like, i am just saying (along with many other ppl in the vol nation) that a 2 star kid with heart is better than a 5 star who sometimes wishes he had signed elsewhere. ur opinion is fine because u will continue to think what u want. i'm just stating the fact that stars mean nothing if theres no heart or drive or dedication behind it. as far as having tunnel vision, what i said means i'm very open instead of just thinking we need all 5 stars. so in point i'm open to new ways of recruiting and coaching like our staff is doing now. but anyways i'm sure you'll post back and bash me about something negative instead of writting something positive. good luck to u in all u do young sir.
"i am just saying (along with many other ppl in the vol nation) that a 2 star kid with heart is better than a 5 star who sometimes wishes he had signed elsewhere." I agree with this statement whole heartedly. But ideally we have got to get more top notch recruits WITH heart and a passion to play for UT, such as J. Smith and C. Miller. There are always exceptions to the rule when it comes to recruiting. Not all NFL players are 4 and 5 star recruits obviously but in most cases these players are evaluated and given 4 stars and 5 stars for a reason. Stars are not everything, but they are a good indicator of talent IMO. All in all we are both cheering for UT and wearing orange at the end of the day. I support Coach Dooley and commend him on this recruiting class for the most part becaue it could have been much worse. Hopefully Glen Stanley will sign with us on NSD bc we need him.
what do you think our chances are with him? who is he considering besides us now? something that should stick in his mind is the fact that these other schools are coming on late when ut has been after him for weeks, that has to show him who wants him more and when he looks at our depth chart he should see the hole left by rico mccoy that he could step in and fill right away since he is a juco
I have no inside information, but IMO, from the sound of it he is probably 60/40 leaning towards USC. Lane Kiffin left an impression on him this past weekend. It is going to come down to which school he wants to play for more. Is it USC or Tennessee? One thing I can promise you is that us not having a D-Coordinator in place is hurting us with prospects such as Glen Stanley because Lane Kiffin & Co. use that against us. It will be tough for him to turn down the Monte Kiffin speech they more than likely gave him. I really hope Lance Thompson gets on the phone with this guy because from his footage he looks legit. Go Vols!
