Kiffin prefers drop back pro style QB's. He has said many times he is not going to take players that do not fit his system, and Newton does not fit his system. Would he take a "dual threat" QB? Maybe a drop back guy that can move if he has to but not a guy like Newton. This view doesn't even make sense. Of course he'll take a dual threat QB.
He got kicked off for stealing a laptop, spray painting his name on it, throwing it out of a window, and then lying to the cops I think.
And he's a freak athletically, but he couldn't make progressions and didn't make good throws. Brantley had already passed him up anyways.

That is my point. He may take a guy that the services call "dual threat" if he is a pure passer that has the ability to run if he needs to but he is not going to take a guy like Newton who is more of a VY type guy. I should have been more specific when I said he would not take a DT QB.He will take a dual threat QB if he sees one that he likes. There are some that fit his system. Aaron Corp is an example. But I'm pretty sure Newton is nowhere close to the passer Corp is.
Yes, there is something going on there.
I don't know how deep Tennessee is in it just yet, or if they would really want to bring him in if push came to shove but there has been some contact and some discussion about pursuing him.
