Yeah, but Cam redshirted and Brantley didn't. That was my point. Not to say that another QB couldn't come in and start over him, just saying he wouldn't have had a chance until Brantley leaves or graduates.

Brantley redshirted his first year on campus adn Newton played. then they flip flopped and Newton redshirted and Brantley played....

Honestly, I can't justify taking him. Got kicked off of our biggest rival, is a complete idiot, will only have 2 years of eligibility (I think), ...etc

Can he even learn the playbook? He's obviously got some mental issues if he's going to spraypaint his name on some stolen property, and chuck it out of the window when the cops come to search him.

If true that we have offered Newton, could it possibly be as a WR? He would probably make a nice possession receiver. He has great size.

Or, could he be considered a second QB to add to whatever 2010 top tier QB we land? I just don't see this guy playing QB in our system though. Doesn't seem to fit.

Just curious...why does everyone think that he does not fit CLK's system? 6'6 big frame...could be a great pocket passer..isnt that what we are looking for? I mean..they are letting a ex pitcher walk on..dont you think that Newton would be a better option??

I am just going by what I remember when watching him some at Florida. He seems much more like a dual threat type. He scrambles and runs a lot and the only passes I saw him throw were very short. I just don't see this guy as a drop back pro-style QB. However, I could be wrong. He definitely has the size.

He's black and played at Florida.

If UT is seriously recruiting this kid as a QB, then I trust their judgment. They obviously know how to evaluate talent and there is no way they are gonna waste a scholarship unless they think this kid fits their system. He was listed as a dual threat QB coming out of high school, but he did have some pretty good passing stats.

Why can't he enroll in June and join the team this Fall? Are his grades bad or something? Or what reason would he not qualify?

he was dismissed from Florida in November 2008. he entered Blinn in the spring and will play for them this fall. Once you enter a junior college, you have to get a degree before you can return to a 4 year school to play football. I'm fairly certain his grades leaving Florida wouldn't put him in position to graduate this spring adn be eligible for the fall.

Just like Brent Schaeffer situation. Brent sweated to august getting in ole miss
