Is Kstate the leader for this guy? I havent been able to gather too much info on this guy as far as college choices

The staff is zeroing in on Heaps and Scroggins...one or both. Newton would likely be targeted as the short term/quick fix, and will likely be No.1 among the 2 or 3.
Hendrix, is more of a Plan B type. I doubt his heart is in it for football at this level if his plans are pre-med school. That's demanding enough without the rigors of SEC football added into the mix. Hendrix is no more heralded than Stephens.

Eric Berry is pre-Dental...I'm sure Hendrix would be fine if that is the direction he wanted to proceed....

I know a lot of you guys think we get Newton and I am sure there are several quotes on here to support that, but I haven't really seen enough to convince myself. Do we really have a good chance at landing him? I am sure it is possible, but how hard are we really recruiting him and have we for sure offered? I didn't see it on Eric's official offer list.

no basis for that. you're just projecting your own desires.

Are you going to still post after Sept. 19 under this name, or will you update it? I am just wondering, as it will quickly fade into irrelevance after that game no matter the outcome.

That's a good question. To be honest, I don't know the answer to that.

I only got here in the first place because of interest aroused by CLK's comments. Now that I'm here, I see a pretty vital group of recruitniks. Your free board is better than ours.

We'll see.

I do feel like I learn as much about the recruiting landscape in general here, as Tennessee's recruiting specifically. A lot of guys contribute solid national info around here.

I'm sure Freak appreciates that. He might actually let you stay on here for a while. :)

That is completely off-base on several levels.

I really am not. I may completely have the story wrong though so correct me if I'm wrong. I thought that they kicked him off (obviously for disciplinary problems or something) and he hasn't publicly said it but does he know he screwed up and regrets it, or thinks he didn't do anything and hates florida. I would take either one honestly.

couldint hurt!!! **** this years QB's suck anyway...he could buy us some time...and look at this!! "Cecil Newton Sr., considering the circumstances, says he would prefer his son play out his final two years of college football at a school in somewhat close proximity to his family's Atlanta home.

"We want him to stay in the southeast, even though Kansas State has a reputable quarterback that just got drafted. Kansas State has some credibility. We'll sit down and talk about it. I'll say that it would have to be something really attractive to go thousands of miles away from home."

Sorry if this has been posted before, but according to this article CLK has offered him. Rumor: Cam Newton to Transfer to Tennessee? | Gator Tailgating

What a terrible blog post.
If Newton does go to Tennessee, he would compete with Senior Jonathan Crompton for the starting QB job. At 6’ 6”, and 250lbs, getting Newton would be a coup for Lane Kiffin and Tennessee, as the Tennessee program has had questions at QB for years. Newton would bring toughness and skill to their team, which is missing because of lackluster recruiting by former Tennessee head coach Phil Fulmer.

He is in Junior College for cripe's sake. Crompton will be gone by the time he shows up on campus.

This is Coach O's 2010 version of Jevan Snead. This kid is a beast, an absolute animal. Think faster Jamarcus Russell.

We get this guy and then Scroggins/Heaps in no certain order. We will be GTG.

There's something special about a beast like this with a chip on his shoulder against Florida who needs little time to be ready to play in 2010.

Interesting Poll to the right of the Newton Article on Florida fan site. Even though they keep beating us, UT's still the biggest rival? :boxing2:

Well - Georgia and FSU aren't really beating them either. The others they don't play every year. And I'm sure a lot of UT fans clicking that are helping that along.

They know where the threat to their dynasty lies.

Why do you think he has a chip on his shoulder against Florida??

It's not like it was anyone else's idea in Gainesville for him to steal that laptop and later chuck it out the window. He knows he screwed up and he apologized for it.
