Bryant put up a FREE READ on Scout on this kid. Everybody should check it out...

Scout.com: Louisiana corner shines at Rocky Top Camp

“I have been to several camps so far, by far the one at UT was the best,” Mathieu told InsideTennessee.com “I couldn’t believe the high level of competition that was there. This camp was way better than the rest.”

“I love the campus,” Mathieu said. “I got a chance to walk around it, it’s one of the prettiest campuses that I have seen.”

“I have known Coach Frank (Wilson) for over three years,” Mathieu said. “We have a great relationship, he is the type coach I would love to play for. He makes me feel like family, I feel at home on the Tennessee campus.”

Does Mathieu have an early favorite after last weeks visit to Knoxville.

“Tennessee is definitely No. 1 for me right now,” Mathieu said. “I love everything about their program, their coaching staff and feel it would be a great place to go to school.”

Did Mathieu get an official offer from the Volunteers?

“Not yet,” Mathieu said. “I was told I should have one by the end of the week, I’m hoping for one that’s for sure.”

Prettiest campus he's seen? I love UT and all but our campus is butt ugly.

That's OK. I'm not going to tell that to Tyrann. Give this boy an offer. Sounds like commit #9. Waaaaaaahooooooo

That's what I was thinking. I don't know what they showed him, but it couldn't have been our campus.

I like hearing that were #1 right now. I just hope that offer gets there soon especially before he camps at LSU. Would be another great pickup for our defense.

I hope we offer this kid while the iron is still "hot". If LSU offers before we do I bet we miss out. I totally understand the staff wanting to watch game film on him....but they just seemed like the type of recruiters (especially Coach O) to trust their eyes.

Looking on TOS and this kid has no rating or rank. I love it when you have these types of kids come to camp and just surprise everyone. He obviously caught someones eye but he was missed by a lot of other people. Ed O leaves no stone unturned.

Exactly. I'll take this staff's evaluation of a player over Rivals or Scout any day.

Rivals didn't even have a profile built for him until Barton Simmons gathered his info at camp.

My big beef with the campus is the number of buildings that are woefully in need of renovation. I remember reading an article about how UT has either none or like one or two buildings on campus designated as historic landmarks. Apparently doing this allows you to have a bigger budget for renovations, construction, etc...The article quoted UGA as having a large number of buildings designated as historic landmarks, and that is one of the reasons they have such an amazing campus.

Sorry for being way off topic. Mathieu is awesome!! I hope he gets offered!!! There, that's better.....

The new Haslam Business Center (Glocker) was the most technologically advanced building at any public school in the country at the time it was completed. I urge any skeptics to walk through it... its nuts.

That's pretty awesome. I graduated a year ago, so it was just a pile of rubble when I left.

I know Estabrook Hall is desginated as a historic landmark. I talked to one of the engineering advisors about renovating the building and they said that they could gut the inside and redo that part but they had to leave the outside alone. This was just an advisor saying this so take it for what its worth.

His highlights just made it to Rivals. Looks like a real threat in the return game, in addition to really aggressive skills in the secondary.

It appears that he still has not received an offer. This surprises me considering his outstanding performance at camp.

Bump. No updates? I guess we just never offered. This kid looked sick in the camp video. I was hoping to see him in orange.

Are they replacing the old one in front or adding a new one elsewhere along the walkway? I'm away from campus for the summer so I haven't seen it.

Our campus has a very distinct appeal if you ask me, you either like it, or you hate it. I'm with Mathieu, I like it. With all the renovations going on, campus will be looking even better in the next 3-5 years and hopefully that can help pull in a few extra top flight recruits over the next decade.

I want to see hodges used in an AT&T "More bars in more places" commercial!

They are puting it right at the intersection of the vol walkway and the path to Gibbs. Right behind the ampitheater. Its going to be huge I guess cause that entire walkway is closed off. I have not been upclose though. I walk from row to humanities and back. Never get close enough to look for exact details
