At lot of the shorter QB's have issues being pocket passers, unless they are moved out on the edge away from the O-Line. Too many batted balls.
Linemen on both sides of the ball are still taller, on average, than most QBs. If a kid is 6'0 and can play, I'll take him over the 6'4 guy who can't.

I guess I'd be a little concerned with a diamond in the rough qb in the 2010 class, because I think we would need to get them on the field that first year. If this guy is in need of bulking up and ironing out rough mechanics, then that would seem to point toward redshirt year ... can we afford to do that for qb position at this time?

Munchie can at least be a situational QB, for Redzone schemes and 3rd and long situations...as a Freshman. He doesn't have to have the entire offense down in order to have some sort of impact.I guess I'd be a little concerned with a diamond in the rough qb in the 2010 class, because I think we would need to get them on the field that first year. That's why it's the O-line's job to open passing lanes. There have been countless qb's that aren't tall in college that have had zero issues.
If there are no passing lanes to throw through it really doesn't matter if your 6'1 or 6'3 you are going to get balls knocked down at the line.
Wing span on taller QB's is almost always longer and therefore is a factor in a Pro-Style QB effectiveness. That's another reason Boyd isn't with us.

Could you imagine having to defend your goal line with him, Bryce Brown and Nuke in the backfield?
Why are we going after a Dual-Threat QB?
One thing that Chad Simmons brought to our chat this morning is the fact that he feels Munchie is more of a true pocket passer than he is a dual threat guy. He is going to be rated one of the TOP 10 QBs in the nation.
