'10 LA QB Benton "Munchie" Legaux

One thing that Chad Simmons brought to our chat this morning is the fact that he feels Munchie is more of a true pocket passer than he is a dual threat guy. He is going to be rated one of the TOP 10 QBs in the nation.

Posted on Scout today... Chad Simmons is the top recruiting analyst in the South for Scout...

Well, Munchie will be at camp next week with the Vols, so maybe we can get a coomit while we have him in K'Town

We will have to agree to disagree. To me Hendrix clearly has more upside. This is JMO, but after watching both these guys videos, Hendrix will be the best pro-style college QB.

i think the coaches feel that when they work on munchies mechanics his arm is going to get stronger
also all i seen was hendrix throwing from that stupid pistol formation. i did how ever see some video of munchie throwing at a camp dropping back without pads (which means more than you would think) id rather see them both throw from under center in pads in a game situation to feel 100%, but im willing to bet that either of theese guys would do just fine for us, but in no way is hendrix better than munchie. and saying hendrix is just as fast if you watched the game film you know thats BS.
40 times on an artifical surface withouth pads indoors dosent always translate to game speed.
this is a case of sabanachio putting to much into what rivals and scout says.

I'm not saying Hendrix is better than Munchie, just a better pro-style QB and a better fit for our system. It is obvious that Munchie has talent, but he just seems like a better fit for a spread offense. The youtube video I watched of him, he ran the ball 19 times. He threw very short passes when he did throw. I just think Hendrix looks sharper and better suited for our offense. I will take either of these guys, becuase the coaches obviously see something they like, but I have to admit, I was surprised when UT offered Legaux.

I'm quite sure that Coach O and F.Wilson have plenty of inside info that we don't have, with their N.O. connections...probably have more game tape on him than any other prospect

I see his stats in HS and am completely impressed with his completion percentage. His accuracy is top notch. Does he have a quick release? I haven't watched any film on him. Does he get away from pressure pretty well?

its like this man, i dont claim to be an expert on qb's or no where near the evaluatior's on our staff. that being said i FEEL like this is what they are seeing you have 2 kids that play on the same levals of competiton one kid is more polished like hendrix is, (even though he was no where near close to perfect in his vids) and then you see legaux that is playing at the same level doing the same things, but just doing them on pure instinct and raw athletic ability, imagine what hes going to do when his mechanics are twekaed, granted some guys never get this.
but they may feel his upside is so great he is worth the chance. Though hendrix may be great or he may not, he is not a sure thing, NONE of theese kids are including heaps, scoggins. if ANYONE says that they are fooling themselfs.

Our staff ain't scared of nobody. Bring on USC and UF. If we r scared of them in recruiting then how r we gong to be when we see them on the field?? Bring em on I say

Munchie is a Vol Lock. Book it.

I like him more then Sims. I would love it if him and Scroggins committed. That is possible. NL is in the 09 class, so that would still leave us fully capable of taking 2 in this next class.

Munchie has a much better frame than Scroggins, IMO. Give that boy 2 years in a college weight program and he's a BEAST.

who? Munchie you think is a silent?

No, but the staff likes him and I think that if he is wowed, and by all accounts I believe he will be, he will commit and we will be done with QB's. I've said from the get go that July/August was our time frame, but now I believe it gets done earlier. By everything that I have read, I believe that Lamaison is.

No. Its just that Scroggins is a very real chance for us. I am not giving up on him until I see that there is no chance we get him.

If Lamaison is a Vol, that's the only short QB we will take. Scroggins isn't much over 6'1" by some accounts and that would make sense when Munchie is 6'3-6'4. If we take one short one, we will take one taller one.
