sabanoccho, if you think his mechanics cant be tweaked you are sadley mistaken, and aparently dont know much about the posistion of QB.

What was your record again last year? How did your QB do?

Of course his mechanics can be tweaked. But to convert him from throwing completely sidearm to over his head is a tough task and there are many QBs that can't do it. Some you don't mess with because if you do, you throw their whole game off. It takes some SERIOUS work on mechanics to change that. I would think as a QB coach you would already know that. Might be something to write down.

With better mechanics comes better accuracy. No ones perfect, everyone throws pic, everyone gets sacked. Some more than others. Couldn't be much worse than what we have now. Crompton has good mechanics, see where that got us last season.

again people repeat after me...... football is a team sport jonathan crompton did not fail us on his own last year.

ohhhh personal attacks ? wana know what my reccord was when i was the starting QB, or my stats at E&H too.

heres a read for ya

and yes mr lemming i have mentiond several times that his mechanics need searouis work, heres a little tid bit for you, i have had 3 QB's come threw with mechanics problems due to the fact they were wearing to large of should pads, and some look good throwing without pads. i highley suspect what you know about QB coaching could be written on one of my guitar pics.

It's not a personal attack. It's a legitimate question. You say I don't know anything about QBs. I ask you to present some sort of evidence that you know more.

It's just strange that it is painfully obvious to this coaching staff that Munchie will never be able to sniff the starting position here, yet you think otherwise.

i never said that for sure, i am saying i belive he is worth taking a chance on as a 2nd QB. nothing more.

Well it's pretty much a moot point since the coaches disagree with you, but I'll just state that I do as well. I don't think Munchie is even a #2 QB here.

thats why we all have opinnions. but i would really watch stating mine as a fact if i were you. if i didnt know better i would think you were an ass.

I never stated anything as absolute fact. It's all my opinion. I just defend my point of view strongly. Doesn't mean I can't be wrong. It's happened plenty of times. There is a lot of evidence to back me up in this situation however. I'm no expert, but it rarely requires an expert to see when a guy is just truly not cut out to play at this level. My main contention is that this guy is not what the coaches want though. I don't like him as a QB personally, but even more importantly it's pretty clear that he's not what the coaches want either.

ok we can drop this debate, just go read my last post in the Cobbs thread, i just put myself in almost as good a mood as i will be when katie gets back from evening mass.

Munchie will never be a Div.1 QB for any SEC caliber team. He does not have the skill set. He has bad throwing mechanics. His accuracy is only because he throws a limited amount of throws over 15 yards. Most of his passes are dump offs to the RB or WR on underneath patterns, typical of a spread offense. You drop him back and expect him to be accurate downfield and you are setting yourself up for disappointment. His stance is too close during his drop-back from center. He also looks like he looks to run as soon as he cant find his primary WR open, rather than surveying the field for the open guy. Not what I would expect from a Pro-Style QB. He is better suited to be a WR in college and especially in the NFL. He should except this because he will be nothing other than that.

he deff dosent have the skill set to play WR. size yes.

guess part of the reason ive ben pulling for the kid to get a shot, is he is a friend of a friend.

How do you know that for sure? He can scoot, he has the size and he has huge hands. I see no reason other than his own desire to be a QB that he couldn't be a very good WR. Hard to know for sure because the guy won't even give it a shot.

And there you go. Now we know the reason for the bias. No offense, I'm pulling for Cam Clemmons because my best friend's dad is really good friends with his dad.

i will rephrase that, it would take a TON of work to make in into a servicable WR, hes not THAT fast 4.6 (i belive) i will have to talk to my guy down their, but i dont know if anyone has ever seen him running routes.

4.6 is pretty decent for a guy his size. His frame also seems to me to be better fit for a WR than a QB.

his size is almost idea for a posession guy, needs to hit the weight room a lil more, but my freshman year at E&H i ran a hand timed 4.67 @ 6'2 227 lbs.(what i would give to be that now!) so i dont consider 4.6 nothing but average for a DT QB.

I agree it's pretty average for a dual-threat QB. I was talking about for a possession WR.

Why do you think he's designated as a dual-threat guy as opposed to a pro-style guy when there are guys with the same or better speed that are designated pro-style? Serious question. I have a theory, but you probably already know it.

i havent put to much thought into that, but i would say it has alot to do with the type of offense he runs just not his skill set, im thankfull we are going back away from the spread this year. and also there are probley people that think he can play multiple places , and the pro style QB's are probley not as versitle as far as playing another posisiton, i dont like the QB lables at all. what is your theory? i mean pertaning to the "dual threat QB's" as a whole.
