'10 MS OT Damien Robinson

This doesn't come from anything first hand that i know, but I could see a guy like Damien Robinson or Nicholas Parker end up at USM. Those guys are guys that got a lot of offers early but at this point i wonder how many of those offers are committable.

Talking about falling stock...

"I had high expectations for my visit to Oklahoma, and they met every last one of them," he said. "They had a great environment and it was a down-home community type thing. They had great facilities and they were great people to be around. It was the kind of program that I am looking for."

"I might just take three, but it might end up being four," Robinson continued. "I have no clue right now who I would visit with my fourth visit. I have Arkansas and Tennessee for sure, and then it might be Ole Miss or LSU."

Rivals has him slated for a Jan 15 OV. Is Robinson still on our radar? With our OV quota for this year, are we still considering him? Thought it was a no qualify situation.

Yes, we are considering him. He's a big time player. He will be here the 15th...

I wouldn't call him a "big time player" myself. Many have questioned whether he had a committable offer here or not. If we take Robinson, it will be because we missed out on someone we wanted more.

I agree it will be because we missed out on a player higher on our board. He is still a big time player imo. I'd love to have him as a Vol. We need guards and he will be a good one somewhere...

There are so many players that we are on that project at guard though. James Stone, Jose Jose, Zach Fulton

We need some tackle prospects like Chaz Green (Vol IMO) and Shon Coleman. The way I see it we are done if we can get Chaz Green, Stone, and Cullen.

Victor Thomas moving to center really helps out IMO.

I think so too with Victor and his quickness. Grooming him over the spring makes sense. Great insight guys. Thanks.

Something tells me he is going to fight hard to hold that spot for next year. It also says a whole lot about where Cody Pope is. I've said repeatedly that Pope will not see the field here unless it's in garbage time.

Wow , wasn't Pope at one time a big time prospect?

Thomas moving to center was a very good move...

Robinson >>>>> Stone jmo

I strongly disagree with that assertion. I think Stone is a much, much better prospect. Stone has tons of upside at tackle. Robinson is not nearly as athletic as Stone. Stone fits our system better from that standpoint. Also Robinson has a ton of bad weight to shed and his want-to has been questioned by many.

Yes, there was an article about it. He is accepting the opportunity with really a great perspective. Gives us the ability to recruit a D lineman instead of an OL which is tough to get this year. Love these coaches...not in a mancrush way..just football.

We will have to agree to disagree...

Fair enough. Just an opinion.

I would look at the schools in the mix for Stone and compare them to who is still going after Damien. Basically he's down to the in-state schools and Oklahoma. Stone could go anywhere.

I agree, a lot of people make a big deal out of Stone being owned in camp. If you look at who he was going up against like Willis, Miller, and Smith. A lot of OL guys would have trouble with those three DL guys.

Those three guys are Vol D-Lineman what did you expect. We only recruit the best.

C. Green > Cullen > Robinson > Stone

Stone to UT is doubtful at this point. I think Robinson is a backup if Chaz Green doesn't commit. I think we take 2 OL, 2 LB, 1 DB, 1 DT, and either a WR or another DB. I think Cullen is ours. I also think Chaz is ours but who knows with coaching changes coming. I also know Robinson would probably move inside to OG but I think we're recruiting OL generically and not really worrying about covering numbers by position because.. in all honesty... there's no way. We're so short on OL depth, we're just going to take the best available OL this year. We will be more specific to OG/OT next year.

He's a bit of mystery really. Doesn't talk much.

Very interested in UT, but he's more of a backup plan to Chaz Green and John Cullen right now. Outside of UT, LSU and Ole Miss are heavily involved. Alabama seems to have backed off.

His stock has dropped dramatically as of late. He's been far overshadowed by teammate Shon Coleman, and though he has all the measurables, he plays very soft.

I think we wanna take 6 OL. We have 3 now and Chaz and Cullen are the 2 we want the most. I think we want Stone or Robinson as #6, in a dream scenario anyways...
