'10 OH QB Andrew Hendrix

I have been away from the board for a few days now. I went to Cincinnati this weekend to visit some friends for the weekend. They took us to a festival called Taste of Cincinnati where all the local restaurants come and setup booths so everyone can sample their food. The place was crowded.

Well anyways, I was telling my friend about UT's recruitment of Andrew Hendrix. They said they never heard of him. Well a few minutes later we ran right into Andrew and his friends enjoying the festival. I couldn't believe the luck.

He saw my UT hat and asked if I was a UT fan. That started the a brief conversation. Andrew seemed like a pretty nice kid, very polite, said hello to the family, and asked my son if he was a UT FB fan. I told him that I followed UT recruiting and wanted to know how much attention he was gettting from UT and how he liked the school. He said that UT was talking to him a lot and they were one of the top schools on his list.

I didn't want to hold him up to much by asking a lot of questions because he was with a bunch of his friends. So, I shook his hand, told him that I would like to see him wearing orange and white next year. He replied "me too"!

I really enjoyed talking to this young man. I think he would be a great addition to the O&W!

Taste of Cincinnati is always a HUGE festival... glad you had a good time.

I do not think that the OSU offer will affect Hendrix from coming to Knoxville. Based off of what 1orange said he had to say about Tennessee, and the interview I had with him earlier on in this thread, it seems to me that he is all but Big Orange bound, but just a matter of time.

As for Braxton Miller...
I've seen all of these Ohio guys play, and Braxton plays for our local high school's rival. Braxton is above and beyond skill wise for his age in a pretty competitive conference. He is very closely related to Pryor in terms of how he plays, but I believe Braxton has / will have a much better arm. He can throw on the run unbelievably.

Nevermind, read the first part wrong.

For everyone who hasn't seen him, this is from his freshman year
MaxPrepsTV - Braxton Miller - Wayne, OH 2007 Football

Love the news on Hendrix though

I don't know if I wold read a whole lot into the conversation. The kid may have just been polite in front of my family and because I was a UT fan.

I really like this kid. Only real concern I have is how well can he adjust to taking snaps under the center? Doesn't seem like a big deal. But you never know. Tough kid though. Doesn't avoid contact.

Good story. Has Hendrix visited UT?

An interesting nugget from tharinger

Just hours after Ohio State offered Cincinnati(OH) QB Andrew Hendrix, there are rumors swirling that Westlake Village(CA) QB Nick Montana is a silent commit to Notre Dame. Nothing has been confirmed on my end, but the Buckeyes offer to Hendrix lends me to believe that Montana has told OSU coaches he will be going elsewhere.

Or he's a clemson lock!

NO I wasn't saying that either I was just saying don't read to much into what he said. Things can be taken the wrong way when talking. All I took from the conversation was that UT was one of his top schools and he was definitely interested in us.

As some of you may know I do attend Moeller High School home of Andrew Hendrix. The juniors and seniors are out of school and the freshman and sophmores are still here. The people I asked that play football and no Hendy had no idea about him being offered by Ohio State. A teacher that has him still says that UT and ND are at the top of his list. Anyone care to show where they heard about OSU? Also, Luke Massa is not as good as you think he is. He had Darius Ashley two years ago when they won. Still he is a good QB.

Thanks again for the update! It was posted on the Rivals' board that OSU offered Hendrix. It hasn't been officially confirmed yet, as far as I know

It sounds like ND has offered Montana and as everyone knows his Dad played there. That could be a good sign for Hendrix coming to Tennessee!

I hope he goes to Tennessee but it shows how quick something can change when an offer comes in. An elder kid just committed to ND less than a week after being offered. If Hendrix is offered by Penn State all of this about Tennessee will be gone as he has already stated that he will go there if offered. During homeroom when he played NCAA Football 09 he always chose Penn State.

That is some good insight. Thanks.

I hope Penn State does not offer. Not sure that he fits their system, but you never do know.

penn state signed kevin newsome last year (4* dual threat qb), and have a commitment from paul jones this year (4* pro-style qb) so they appear to be pretty set at this position for the next few years. hopefully hendrix will realize that both of these quarterbacks fit penn state's "spread hd" system far better than he would and will decide to come to the vols even if they offer.

Honestly when Hendrix trims his list down I think it will come down to UC (always at school), UT, ND, VA, Vanderbilt, Stanford. That is just my perspective on what goes around school.

I'd be surprised if he committed any team but UT, ND, or OSU. Maybe he'll leave others in his finalists but this kid seems too competitive to not go to a top tier program now that it's an option.

I don't think PSU is a major player for Hendrix like Moeller implied above. They might have been his favorite team but he's smart enough to see that there are systems he would fit in better (and have more appealing depth chart situations) than PSU.
