'10 OH QB Andrew Hendrix

The thing that they don't mention which I wished they did was that when he split time he split cause he was awful. He was terrible at the beginning.

:ermm:

I'll jump on the bandwagon when he shows a senior year of what he did at the end of his junior year.

Me too. I don't question his arm or size or talent or his mechanics. I question his head. I'm not talking about in the classroom. I'm talking about not making good decisions with the football. I remember this QB the Vols had way back in 2008 that was like this- strong arm, solid mechanics, big time talent... and a complete failure on the field...

Coach Kiffin cautions fans against taking much stock in the recruiting films of prospects.. :)

Few of us are. We do like to pretend though.

Pot, meet kettle...

You make zero sense sometimes. Really.

He has finally been rated by Scout. He is a 3 star and the #29 QB. He is not ranked in the top 300 overall players...

Scout does suck. We have a kid name Griffin McKenzie for basketball at Moeller, and he has been named one of the best seniors (this upcoming season) in the state of Ohio. They only have him as a 2 or 3 star guy and they have none of the offers this kid has recieved. They are slow on everything.

Keep in mind there are clear differences between sports and the reporting for each team. Ratings are one thing, breaking news, providing great information and interviews is another. The Scout site for Tennessee has stepped up their game and is clearly moving up. Frankly, the ratings don't mean much anymore with the way the new staff evaluates talent. You don't have to be a 5-star to be great, example Ole' Miss.

The ratings on Scout and Rivals are handled by a select few. The guys with the various team affiliates are sportswriters, not talent evaluators and they have no say in the rankings.

Rivals/Scout's money comes from football; both sites are less preoccupied with basketball updates because the demand isn't there like it is with football news.

Even if they brought in ex-Div-I players and Hall of Fame coaches to do their individual rankings, it'd still be subjective and people would still disagree with the ratings. Look at the NFL draft. Different people see different things. That's why one guy says 2nd round talent and another projects 4th round talent.

That's the key! It all boils down to who is evaluating the talent for each service.
IMO I think the staff is doing what it should and evaluate the prospects for themselves and make the decision to offer the kids they think has the best potential.

I saw Hendrix last year against Elder (the best team last season in Cincinnati) and he did not play well at all. Had an interception returned for a TD among other things. I realize the competition was good but Moeller always has talent. They had some good WR's last year (Tony Harris) and a good TE (Schneider) so it's not like he didn't have good players around him. I'd really like to see him throw the ball down the field more. In Rodenberg's offense it seemed everything he threw was short and within 10-15 yards. I did see him against St X last year as well in the season finale and I still didn't see a whole lot of improvement. He led them to the win on the final drive which was impressive but nothing really stood out to me. My guess is he'll end up at ND.

If he goes to ND he will not see the field for atleast 3 years.

Scout sucks, though.

LMAO... :)

Kiffin's take is they all suck. I spend little time with the rankings or recruiting aspects (especially this early). I depend greatly on what I hear from those near staff, not necessarily the reporters either. That is where the information on talent is clearer. This staff makes their own evaluations and could care less if a 5, 4, 3 or 2 star player.

Keep your ears to the ground for what coaches think, not what services think. :)

I don't know about their rating of Hendrix but I took a look at their top 10 QB's and Rivals from a few years ago... and Scout more accurately picked the ones that would be successful.

Facts will get you nowhere here Larry. :)

The guy lead his team on a late game winning drive against St. Xavier? That's pretty impressive because isn't St. X like one of the best HS teams in the country?

St. X is year in and year out a powerhouse. Last year, and I'm pretty sure this year, they were and should be pretty terrible again. X didn't make the state playoffs this year.
