'10 OH QB Andrew Hendrix

It's hard to say. He has a lot of potential IMO. The coaches seem to think he fits the offense pretty well. It's not like they are going out and offering every top QB. They are being very selective with their QB offers and Hendrix now holds one.

I like him much better than I do Mason, Wallace, or Nash Nance. I prefer Austin Hinder over him, but by all accounts he is looking to stay on the West Coast.

BTW, many QB's have been rated now on Rivals and Hendrix is a 4 star FWIW.

So when did he get an offer from UT? I missed that one.

What's up with his stats?
Jr: 61.0 %, 1,700 yards, 11 tds, 7 ints (per Rivals)
Other than the completion percentage, the numbers aren't very impressive.

Not saying that it means everything, but they play some of the best competition in the country.

Not sure how Herbie could know how Pryor will perform this year and next already...... but I hope we get this Hendrix kid.

He was just commenting on Pryor's overall skill and developement based on last year and this years spring practice. Analyst do this all the time to college kids. Pryor isn't any different. He just doesn't seem to think as highly of Pryor as most Buckeye fans and didn't think he was NFL material. At least that is what he said to Speilman on the radio.

He compared him to Vince Young and how NFL teams would be scared of him given Vince's performance and that he just didn't look like he was showing the NFL what they are typically looking for.

I talked to Hendrix today, and congratulated him on receiving an offer from UT. I went on to talk to him and asked if he was going to the Big Orange Caravan coming to Cincinnati. I explained where it was and sent the link, and he said he now planned on going.

Sounds good.

He can't be in direct contact in person with the coaches. I hope he understands this or you explained it to him either one.

When I said I was anxious to meet Kiffin next week, he said, "haha he's a cool guy"

Continued conversation:

ME: Seems like it... hes entertaining that's for sure.
He'd be nice to play for because he can relate to you because he's so young

Hendrix: haha yeahh exactly i think it will be cool
i am really considering going there

ME: That's great to hear man. That staff that they put together is absolutely unbelievable.

Hendrix: no kidding... legend after legend after legend

ME: you went down there for an unofficial right?

Hendrix: yeahh

ME: i love it down there man. Neyland is going to be so nice when all of the renovations are done.

Hendrix: it is ridiculously sweet right now
with all that new bricking... hohhh itll be fresh

ME: haha i know, just wait to you actually go to a game down there... there isn't nothing like a saturday in Knoxville.

Hendrix: i can go for free now to every game i presume i am PUMPEDDDDD

I'm sure he understands it, but I believe he is able to talk to him, not in depth, but he has to initiate the conversation.

So he's basically a commit.

How is it a violation if Hendrix is the one that shows up to a UT event (B.O.C.) and comes up to Kiffin? He has no control over it.

Hendrix has been ours to lose for some time now. Don't expect to hear anything until Scroggins or Heaps announce though.

Just because it is. Chad Bumphis did the same thing with Sylvestor Croom at his school and it almost cost him eligibility.

Yeah - but I thought the bump rule applied to the times where Saban would just "happen" to be in the area that a recruit was or whatever. Not the other way around. That's dumb if that's the case.

I feel like Hendrix is ready to commit after receiving the scholarship today...

He will wait it out a little, but I expect him to commit to UT regardless of what any other QB recruit does. I also feel like after talking to him, he will do it when he is ready and not wait for anyone else to make their mind up.

That's the thing, Chad didn't know but Croom wasn't going to be an ass and tell him to get away or anything. The NCAA is strict on this, especially with juniors.

You are forgetting the coaches' part in that decision. If Lane and co tell Hendrix to hold off announcing until they feel that they are good with a Heaps or Scroggins type player he will do it.
