“Coach Kiffin called my office about Noon today with the offer,” Coach Rodenburg said. “It’s a big offer for Andrew. He is excited about getting it.”
Is a decision expected in the next few days?
“We will all sit down with him and his parents and discuss what’s his best option are,” Coach Rodenburg said. “He has a lot of great offers; he is looking for the best situation for him. I would expect a decision before the end of the month, before the summer starts.”
The noise around here is they are pushing fairly hard for a pro-style QB in the '10 class. If Pryor accomplishes what he is athletically capable of, the thinking is that he wont be around after his Jr. year anyway. If they dont get a QB that can play in this class, and Pryor gets hurt in his Jr year (or even this year for that matter) they are royally screwed.
"Tennessee's staff really does their home work, I deal with a lot of college coaches and that staff isn't just handing offers out to kids without doing their research. As a high school coach you really like to see that," Rodenberg observed. "Like Nebraska offered Andrew without ever even calling me or talking to us.
"I'm impressed with how they did things, that lets you know that they look into the situation and make sure they have a feel for the kid and that they're not just looking at their needs and handing out offers. Those are the kind of schools that are going to have a good shot at landing Andrew."
"If you put on the film of game one and then watch us in game 11, the progress he made is dramatic," Rodenberg said of Hendrix. "He really improved as he just got used to playing and got used to seeing defense.
I heard Herbstreet on the radio yesterday saying that he didn't think anyone in the NFL would take Pryor as a Jr and the fans shouldn't expect it. So that could also be a positive for UT that Hendrix would look at.
