'10 OH QB Andrew Hendrix

I believe that was in regards to the article piece that was posted.

That what I was referencing. The fact that HS coaches and players are noticing how UT does its homeowork and not just send out blind offers based on needs is awesome.

would hendrix and cam newton suffice?
i would take them both today and be done

I'm not comfortable with Andrew Hendrix or Cam Newton being the leader of our offense. JMO.

I'd much rather have Heaps or Scroggins but I just don't see us getting either. In the event we don't, I do feel comfortable with Hendrix. Not so much Newton. Don't think he fits.

We are getting too wrapped around the axle over Heaps and Scroggins. CLK doesn't think he'll get Heaps, he's waited too late on Scroggins because he was stuck on Heaps. There are numerous QB out there that are an upgrade fom what we have now. Tyler Brosius, Nash Nance, Munchie Legaux, Hudson Mason, even Barry Brunetti. I think the staff set themselves back by putting so much emphasis on Heaps.

Does anyone else think we offered Hendrix because the coaching staff feels were losing ground with Heaps and Scroggins?

Your right. That's the only reason. CLK realizes that we last some ground with both. Scroggins especially becaue the staff has always preferred Heaps. He's not even a true Pro-Style QB. His snaps are from the Gun. I'd rather have a QB that can throw, but still be able to scrabble for positive yards.

Or maybe they waited until they could evaluate him in person, which they have only been able to do for a few days now.

Andrew Hendrix will be a great asset to our team. The kid is smart, and you can't teach intelligence. With our stable of rb's we just need a smart qb who avoids mistakes. Our rb's will help open up passing lanes which will help the qb, but I think Hendrix is a heck of a second option, and if he is our second option I think we will be in great shape. This qb class is weak I'd take Hendrix if we can't land Heaps or Scroggins and start workin on an elite qb in 2011, but Hendrix might be a diamond in the rough.

Not saying he's given up, but Reaves out there and didn't get a commitment. All I'm saying is we can't put all our eggs in one basket with Scroggins and Heaps. There's lots of good QB's out there we need to be pushing harder for.

What's up with his stats?
Jr: 61.0 %, 1,700 yards, 11 tds, 7 ints (per Rivals)
Other than the completion percentage, the numbers aren't very impressive.

Heaps has said before that he wasn't making any decisions until June... Let's not start getting crazy about not getting Heaps... The way Heaps worded his last interview about our staff points in the direction of him at least giving UT a better than average chance...

sab, could he be as good as the other two.

It's hard to say. He has a lot of potential IMO. The coaches seem to think he fits the offense pretty well. It's not like they are going out and offering every top QB. They are being very selective with their QB offers and Hendrix now holds one.

I like him much better than I do Mason, Wallace, or Nash Nance. I prefer Austin Hinder over him, but by all accounts he is looking to stay on the West Coast.

BTW, many QB's have been rated now on Rivals and Hendrix is a 4 star FWIW.

92 mph fastball!!! wow kid has has an arm and a very high ceiling. Hes also at the top of his class with a 28 on the ACT. Hes def. moved up my list to top 5, maybe even 3.
