'10 OK ATH Demarco Cobbs

Cobb and Prater are totally different athletes and would not necessarily compete for the same job. We are assuming that Cobb will play as a WR. He has the abilities to play on Defense too. Even if he was a WR he would be used differently than Prater. The competition would really be between Prater and Milton IMHO

I read somewhere that he pushed back his flight so he will be here another day. Smells like a commitment to me.:)

We'll see though.

I agree. Most people think he will play wide receiver so I was just going with it. Prater being rated the higher prospect could beat them out but three four star receivers to go up against is some major competition.

You may be on to something there...

And fwiw, there's a rumor that Cobbs has had a blast hanging out with the DBs the past couple of days. Now, I don't know if UT is recruiting him as a DB, but I am just throwing it out there...

"Tennessee is definitely one of my favorites," Cobbs said. "Before I visited them, they were one of my favorites. There is a tradition of Oklahoma players at Tennessee. Oklahoma is representing at Tennessee. I'm going to definitely take an official visit. I was supposed to leave at 5:15, but I enjoyed it so much that I didn't want to leave and decided to stay an extra night."

Cobbs impressed, extends stay - Volquest.com

Not the same position in the WR group though.

I'm not sure. They might have Prater, Milton, and Cobbs on the outside and Nu'keese and Teague in the slot. Ambles could play either. Cobbs is too physical to play in the slot, it's better to have him on the outside IMO.

I would be willing to bet that we will run more 4 WR sets next year than this.

Ok well thats good news if that is the case maybe we can snag both of them. I believe that cobbs is going to commits tomorrow and maybe Prater will commit after all his offical visits have been made. So we will see

I do not think we get Prater he clearly loves USC the most. His dad will not object it is USC. JMO

I would be fine with losing Prater if we pick up Cobbs. It would be nice to get at least one of the two though.

Ambles, Milton, and Cobbs/Prater would be a strong WR class.

That's beside the point. Jesse is right. To dismiss a Cobbs commitment as it relates to Prater doesn't make any sense. Of course it is going to affect him. Unless the coaches tell Prater we are recruiting Cobbs at DB. Which I don't know if they do or don't.

They will take his commit. He is elite IMO. He may end up on D. Not saying anyone said this. But this is one they would be crazy not to take. If Cobb plays WR this year in high school he could become a 5 star. Prater will look at Depth chart at USC too. He has clearly stated he is a USC fan. He has basically called them his leader. I will take Cobb and call it a day.

Oh, there's no question they'd take his commitment. You don't put a player like Cobbs off. This kid is an impact player wherever he ends up. They aren't going to be too concerned about Prater. I agree.

Cobbs won't play the same position as Prater in college. Prater is an edge guy and Cobbs isn't, IMO. No one is dismissing anything, I'm just pointing out that they both won't line up in the same position on the field if both are out there. Also, even if Cobbs did line up in the same position, Prater isn't going to play every down of a game on offense and neither is Cobbs. I don't think it really going to effect Prater because he wants to go to USC, but there's always that chance he comes here. If we take Cobbs, Prater isn't coming IMO, and that means we take a smaller guy in the future, IMO.

Cobbs is most certainly a guy you put out wide. He's not a slot guy. He's direct competition for Prater unless he's playing on the other side of the ball. There's no question about it. He's a physical, strong guy and those are the guys you line up wide.

There's no question a Cobbs commitment would influence Prater. We would already have committed Ambles, Milton, and Cobbs. That is going to affect his decision. There's almost no question about it.

If you think he's going to USC anyway then why are you even arguing with me??? That doesn't make much sense, Eric. And you say if we take Cobbs, Prater isn't coming? Isn't that what I have been trying to say and you have been disagreeing with? You're confusing me this morning.
